View Full Version : Zeitronix TCAC
Has anyone seen/installed Zeitronix TCAC? (Throttle Controlled Air Conditioner). I think it would be a cool mod and its only $55..
Really you could see it as a lazy-mans mod but it'd be handy for those squirts when you arn't planning on it (amber light, whatever)
Without checking out the link, its a little device that cuts the aircon when your throttle is over 60% and then turns it back on 6 seconds after your throttle is down past 60%.
Handy.

Pretty sure the 3rd Gens at least have this?
Gotta press the go pedal to full noise before it turns it off though.

Most newer model fuel injected cars have this feature its in the programming of the ECU. Not sure about the third gens more than likely it will have it. When i used to have my SS you could change the settings using HP Tuners where you want it to cut out works on % of throttle.

you reckon? it sounds a bit more high end.
Well i know 2nd gens certainly don't have them and it'd be a good thing to have.. I'm gonna try it when i am given my next 'car allowance' lol

My car has it,
Floored it, cold air stopped, when i resumed normal driving cold air kicked back in. But maybe it's only a feature in TL/TW Climate control systems

this feature dates back to the gen1 efis but only in the auto models - over 75% throttle will kick off until below 75% and stay that way for 6 seconds
3rd gens have this feature too hence the use for the controller box(well that one of the features of it), i found this out as my new te didnt come with a/c and im in the process of getting all the bits for it
im unsure about the 2nd gen system tho it will state it in the factory manual if your interested

Your profile say you have a manual - so maybe it's only a feature for the Auto's?
I thought this too, doesn't mean it still wouldn't be handy..
If my TR DOES have it, its broken 'cause I tested it today, WOT and flicked the air off. Very noticeable.

Silicon chip designed a kit for this... Jaycar sells it IIRC. Don't think it is $50 though.
Cheers

Oh - sorry... Less. Its in their latest flyer... I'll check it for you.
Ah - its $40. Might be cheaper to buy a premade version once you purchase an enclosure etc...
Yeah.. TCAC is $15 more, its all done and ready to be soldered. Which would you prefer? I know I don't have the extra time to assemble it so the $15 is worth it to me.
what do you think?

Really people. TH+ are V6 3.0-3.5L.... Who needs the extra squirt of power when not expecting it?
Really mate, I have a 3L TR and sometimes it'd be handy to have like when merging or going up hills, with aircon on and i'm cruising i'd have to drop a gear to get the guts up. with this I wouldn't have to which is saving my synchro's, gearbox oil, engine oil and anything else you could possibly rationalise it with (most of which i don't care greatly for) but it's no v8 so when you've got a 30 degree hill, your doing 60 in 4th at 2thou rpm, that little extra is all that's needed.
if your not interested, don't post! fool.

I have a KE, KH, KJ2 and a KJ2 AWD and i have never known the a/c to turn off under full acceleration.
I'm positive they dont have this feature.
I have tried turing the a/c on while flooring it in any gear and it always kicks in dragging power out.
I know recent holdens have it.
I recon you would only want it to kick in at more than say 85-90% throttle. WOuld give you the irrits it forever turning off on hot days anything over 60%
