I'm not sure if anyone else has posted this before but I found it interesting. When the car is turned off press the power button on the stereo and it will come on. I did it by accident and now it's great for me particularly this time of the year as it's not busy I spend a lot of time just sitting in the car waiting..... waiting .... waiting.

You'll find it will probably have a timer on it. Newer model falcodores also have this sort of setup too. Good idea imo.

Is that for the stock stereo? I don't remember if you've upgraded.

My JVC won't work without the key. I tried the first day we got the car.

Will drain the battery a little.. but not enough to actually cause any dramas.

1. The stock stereo doesnt pull very much power even at full volume.
2. The system is on a timer (eg, 40mins of play without key) then it turns off.

Yep.
For reference, When i got my stereo installed, i had it going continuosly for 6 hours without starting the car and she still started ok.

Leaving your radio on just doesnt draw that much power from the battery, so you are safe:)

any stereo will play with the key off, you just needa wire it without the accessory sire :) or turn the key to accessory.

ive ran 1000W+ RMS systems at full tilt for hours and still been about to start the car, stock stereo could go for days without any dramas :P

My interest in this thread is because sometimes my kids like to stay in the car and listen to cds (remember they're 8 & 12) but I don't like leaving the keys in the ignition in case some nutcase wants to take the car and doesn't give a frag about kids.

I reckon this is one of the best things about the stock unit, i often find myself waiting in my car, usually waiting for my girl, and its easier to use the 1 Hour Power Off Play than to have the keys in the car, just in case some wanka wants to steal my baby.
