I've been replacing my entire dash wiring loom, so far I've only had to spend $30 for a new loom (and 2 hours at a wreckers pulling the entire dash and loom out!)

I spliced the new loom on, one wire at a time, replacing the entire fuse area, basically everything under the dash.

So I'm putting it all back in the car, it's all fitting quite nicely...then it comes time to put the dash back in and the two plugs that connect to the dash from the loom are not there. They literally don't exist!!!!

My question to all 2nd genners with V6's:

Can you please check the wiring connections under the dash for me and take some pics???

This is a pic of the back of my dash and the connections in question:

These are under the driver's side.

Mine has 2 plugs into the dash from the loom, and one plug connecting to a plug just above the fusebox/relay box.

I took this loom from a V6 auto, and only splicing in the wiring I required. Do all V6 auto's not have these two plugs? Will I need to splice yet *MORE* wiring into this bloody loom? lol

Cheers

I pulled a few TR & TS (auto & manual) and they all had those plugs. Why are you replacing the loom for?

Long story short: The reg on my alternator shat itself and it overcharged the car, melting wires all over the place.

The only sure fire way to fix it was to replace the entire dash loom.

the pics of my dash out may be helpful.

The dash harness, although has slight differences between 4 and 6 and auto and manual is in essence the same.

The 2 plugs have existed on all of the ones I have done in the past.

I am a little stumped why you do not just replace the entire harness and only splice into you ECU harness, this is if of course it was not plugged properly when you have it wired in.

The inside harness, engine bay harness etc all merge either on the inside fuse box or for the rear loom just behind.

I am also concerned that your overcharge did all this, there should be a fuseable link between the battery and the alt and same between battery and main harness.

I am concerned too. But it is the only explanation that I can work out. No fuses are blown, though I found some starting to melt.

The reason I didn't go that far was 1) Nothing was wrong that far over, 2) I couldn't get it all out lol and 3) When the DOHC wiring was done (not by me) he had changed some pins around to suit the DOHC sensors...so I had to stay with that. Everything after that is the same though...so basically it was just replacing the loom from the driver's side, not the ECU side.

It's ok though Mal...I found some more wires which are different in their pin config to what's in my car. The amount of effort needed to fix it all is just ridiculous so it's not getting fixed.

Want to buy a donor car for a DOHC conversion? lol
