Driving through the hills today, I decided to push on the Power button to make it a bit more spritely however I noticed the light didn't come on the dash. In the past, I can't say I've ever noticed a massive difference between the two trans modes so I have to say I can't be sure if the problem now is just the dash light thats blown or something else that's gone wrong.
Does anyone know any way of telling if the trans is in power mode or not (other than the dash light)

when auto in top gear put foot to 3/4 throttle--> should change down gears automatically for you, i believe the other setting (power mode off) you have to change manulally or hugely floor it.

Without power mode on, it will still change gears down when you plant it in top gear. I would expect that power mode would be reluctant to drop down gears as fast, I find my car flicks up and down gears when I sit on 60 @ 2000rpm, and when power mode is on, it sits happily in 3rd.

the easiest way to tell if your in power mode or not is that the car will rever higher in each gear with your foot planted, think its something like NoPower = 5000k Power = 6000-6500k or something along those lines

I tried it out, doesn't do much for me that I can notice?

In regards to the light not coming on, looks like the bulb is busted. Pocket a bulb from a wrecker or mitsu sell them for $8.00 (which is where i got my one for D light)

But yeah! Reading the manual, it says power is for towing etc.
Dun see much of a difference though, and i reckon it will drill your fuel consumption too.

OK get your car going at about 40-45ks then hit the gas all the way to the floor. If power mode is off it will continue to accelerate in 2nd (or maybe even 3rd) gear, if PWR is on it will launch back to 1st and the revs will jump to about 4,000.

EDIT: I found that of the start its almost like the clutch is in faster in PWR mode, you can notice it more if you have the air con going.

Just take the dash out and fit a new globe.

All this fuss over a blown globe!!!!!!! <VBG>
