just came from mitsu cause my ball joints may need replacement. they say that you cant just get the ball joints you need the whole lower arm as its one unit and it costs 725 for them to be installed and then extra for a wheel alignment. am i just being bs'ed or what.

btw they said there supplier from adelade wasnt making anymore just getting rid of stock.

May well be true, as far as I know you cannot buy genuine control arm bushes but have to buy the whole arm

Just had a look at the Gregorys workshop manual and they explain how to press the balljoint out and replace so looks like it can be done.
Maybe Mitsu meant that the original part was not available but surely there's an after market part

ive looked at it and it says that if there is any movement to replace the control arm which there is a little bit of movement. what is the difference between the v6 and the 4 cyl one. maybe that would be cheaper i forgot to ask

Noltec Suspension has a reconditioned lower control arm kit, with polyurethane bushes.

Cost me about $325 from Repco, and it solved all my front end rattles.

I don't trust mitsu service centres. Ever since they tried to tell me it would cost $75 to program my OEM remote cos they needed to "hook the car up to their diagnostics computer" to "reprogram the ETACS system". I took off the door trim, flicked a switch back and forth and the remote was programmed. DIE MITSUBISHI SERVICE CENTRES DIE :uzi: :zap:

u can buy the ball joint seperate and install them but unless u have the right tools eg. press u might do more damage than it's worth.
when i did the ball joints in the magna i took it to the mechanics because i didn't have the right tools. now he swapped over the ball joints i bought and told me it was all sweet. i go and drive off only to find my tyres howling at 60 in a straight line:nuts: he bent my control arms and then tryed to tell me that they were already like that. so be carefull who does it for you.
