Got a car manual? It would def be in there. If not make a post in the 2nd gen section and see if someone can have a look for ya.

It's for the A.B.S, so if it stays on for 30sec than goes out  it means the A.B.S if working O.K

if its for the abs, then there is something wrong with it. get it checked out by a mtisu dealer.

When you start the car up and start coasting, do you hear a whirring sound from the front
(that is the ABS doing a self test)? If there is no sound or a prolonged sound then there is
something wrong with it. Get it checked out ASAP at a mitsu dealer or ABS (auto brake
services) centre near you.

could this be on because my pads are due to be changed as in no meat left on them?

Shouldn't be. The ABS on the Mitsus are a hub centred abs (its actually a cog setup in the
hub (axel stub)) and not part of the caliper setup. I've had the rotors and pads on my old
ks to bear minimum without having the ABS light turning on.

Don't think there is anything else needed for a CV boot change. The oil may have
smothered the abs sensor. Take it to another brake place or a dealer.
