Anyone have any advise for me, I'm pretty much a noob on all this stuff so any help you can toss my way would be appreciated.

I'm not real keen on the new magna front but I love the shape of the 2001 - 2002 models and the price is right so I'm currently looking at a 2001 Verada Ki that has 82,000km on the clock and they are asking $14,000 for it.

Is there anything I should know about this model Verada?

You can check Red Book to see the specs of the car if you dont know everything it has. It also has an approx resale value/second hand price.

K's seem good for the car, and as long as its been kept in good condition, been regularly serviced and had all major services up to those k's then ur sittin pretty. As far as i know there are not many problems with 3rd gen magnas.

Few people have commented on the rear door sills leaking water so check they are in good condition. Check the idle of the car, some people have had rough idling with the auto gearboxes. Check the drivers seat to see if it wobbles. Basically its the same things that many cars have problems with, so just give it a good going over.

And always remember HAGGLE away!

u mean a KJ Ei/Xi? which is it? judging by price i'd say Ei, which means u dont get the leather and sunroof, or u could wait around for an Xi to show up. have a look in the general section, u'll see the one i picked up :) cant report on common faults really coz i havent got mine yet, but just looked for the usual stuff. 80,000k's over 5 years aint that bad really, 15-20,000k's per year is average, so it hasnt really been overdriven or anything.

and agreed on the haggling, they always have room to move! oh and if its from a dealership, dont forget a full tank of fuel thrown in with that ;) (hey, thats gotta b worth like $100 nowadays! lol)

Well it was a KJ Ei but the sales rep called me this afternoon and told me it was sold this afternoon. Me thinks it was sold the whole time and he just wanted my info to try and sell me another car. :rocket:

Ahh well the search continues, maybe for a nice Xi. :pray:

When i bought my KJ Verada Ei in mid 2006 i didn't really come across many Xi models whilst car shopping. The main reason i wanted an Xi was for the leather interior. Even though i bought an Ei (which is excellent by the way), i had its interior retrimmed in leather so it didn't make much of a difference in the end.

Ive got a KE Ei, grabbed some leather seats (drivers is electric too) from the wreckers for $500 and Voila...... Xi...well, almost.

After waiting a month between selling and buying my old TE Advance and my new KH Xi (so i could simly find one), I can tell you there are a couple of differences between the models. These are:

KJ series 1 Xi additions
-leather trim
-leather steering wheel;
-leather gearshift;
-electric tilt slide sunroof;
-electric 8 way driver seat adjust;
-extended woodgrain console with cupholder lid;
-covered coin holder with additional power socket;
-additional velour covering over roof pillars;
-better grill;
-all important Xi badge on the boot.

Only the KJ My02 update and later scored leather wheel and gearshift. Xi got wood gear lever.

I personally chose a KH over the KJ due to my preference with the earlier panels.
However, as the price difference is not that much these days it may be worth waiting for the car you really want or you wont be happy with it. If you can live without those options
then buy an Ei. Still a briliant machine.

Thanks for all tips guys it really helped.

Today I went and bought a KJ Verada 2003 GTVi with 39500km on the clock. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it on the net. It set me back 20 grand including on roads but what the hell you only live once. I pick it up on monday.

Here is the link with some pics of the car. This link will most likely be dead by monday when they update their data base. I'll take some photos of my new baby next week and try to figure out how to post them.

I'm already thinking about what mods I can do to it :cool:
Any suggestions?

The usual ...lowering, 18"-20" Mags and some dark tint and you'll be pimping... :cool:
I love that model (black tho) But with the car being white..... IMO...White mags would look pretty joy...

Great car though. Its what I would have bought if I didn't get the AWD. Nice low km's too

Yeah it is actually made of wood, feaked me out. Also the audio system is pretty good with 4 disc changer etc but it also has a cassette player, I can't remember the last time I've seen a cassette player lol.

Definately wheels are on my list, then lowered a bit if I can still get it in my driveway and I'm tossing up weather or not to get one of those Verada body kits bunbury motorsports. Money money money I'll take my time with it so I don't break the budget. My wife is already pissed at me cause I didn't buy a Hyundai :bowrofl: hehehe I need to tread carefully.

"Blingy" Chrome wheels on white cars look crap in my opinion. Get some dark as tint, and some BIG Black rims (19/20's) with chrome lip... Will look mad then...

Agreed, white and chrome just doesn't work. Chrome works best with dark colours IMO, Sable or Nautilus blue FTW...

White + Dumped + Tinted = :bowdown:

Well I picked her up this afternoon from Brisbane and took her for a good spin back to the Gold Coast. I'm not used to fast cars so for me 163kw was like flying a jet plane. She really kicks assss, made my ol' 94 TS look like a Beatle. I was originally tossing up between this and a Ford XR6T, after having this I couldn't begin to imagine the speed of one of those 240kw Turbos. That would scare the bejesus outta me.

Also tonight I waited till midnight when there were hardly any cars on the road and gave the Manual side of the 5 Speed Semi Auto a good work out. Fun, Fun, Fun, what more can I say, I Love my Verada. :cool: :cool:

Anyway now that I have it at home I can see that those car yard photos just don't do the car justice so I'm not sure what mods I'll do yet.
