I need to know if an engine that was coupled to an auto can couple to a manual.
What is the difference between a 3.0lt & a 3.5lt for rebuilding purposes?
Any help appreciated.

Well as far as i know... the 3.0 and the 3.5 are the opposite way around...
ie 3.0 gearbox on drivers side.. 3.5 gearbox on passenger side...
as for the internals... the block on the 3.5 is slightly larger.. (ie you wouldn't be able to bore out the 3.0 for 3.5 pistons..

The 3.0 in the 2nd gen (that is, the 12V SOHC 6G72 3L) faces the opposite way to the 3rd gen V6 engines (24V SOHC 6G72 3L and 24V SOHC 6G74 3.5L), but in the 3rd gen they all have the same orientation.
A good handful of people have already done an auto to manual conversion.. do a search and you'll find a few threads on the subject.

So this means we can put 24v 3&3.5 heads onto a 12v 3L with no hassles?
Any REAL point in this or will there be "...all" pluses from the effort?
Just thinking 3.5 heads with ralliart cams if possible as a mild power-up.

Ah, I meant 24V 3.0L and 24V 3.5L shared the same heads.. don't believe they'll match up on the 12V 3.0L

12v and 24v heads are totally different to each other. The 12v is simply a 6G72 where as the 24v is a 6G72 s4.
The main difference is 10mm deck height increase in the 3.5 or 6G74 s4

Also, from memory. The 12V heads incorporate variable length intake runners (those 6
tubes on top of the engine). Also, the 12V 6G72 and 24V 6G72 share the same block and
this includes the 380 3.8 engine. Each time, they've just bored and stroked the block to
achieve capacity increase.

Quiet possibly. Do a search on Google for the 6g72 block and you may find lots of posts

That'd be pretty tastey.
So this sucks for me anyway. damn 12v.
