Hey guys, I went to franks at Campbelltown today and picked myself up a set of TJ VRX Series 1 Ltd Editions Blue Instrument Clusters.

The cluster has a 5 speed tiptronic display on it and the Gauges are analogue, What will happen with the display as my car is only 4 speed standard auto? Will this cluster fit without problems?

Another thing, theres almost 70,000 K's difference between the new odo and the old odo. I understand that Im only legally required to note down the difference on the back but I was wondering if anybody knew how to change the odo reading to display the correct k's?

Take it to auto instrumentation places like VDO. When the ODO of my old TP stopped
working properly (the 100K wheel was moving at the same rate as the 10K wheel), I went
to VDO with my last service sheet to confirm that it couldn't have travelled 100K km in 3
months so they replaced the odo cogs and adjusted it back to the way it was meant to
be.

General Auto Instruments in Lidcombe (Rookwood end) can change the ODO, they did mine. ~$160 for my TJ II digital cluster. I've heard the light won't work on 5, but otherwise the cluster is fine, but I'm really not sure. Hopefully someone on here has done it. The other option is just to get General Auto Instruments to change the overlay (they have to take the needles off and recalibrate). People on here have done it themselves, but I didn't want to have my speedo inaccurate - 1 fine is the same cost as a recalibration

The operation was a complete sucess. The cluster fit in and the gear light up. The blue dials (even thought it is a small thing) actually make a huge difference in the appearance.
couldnt be happier.

If you want to change the reading on your mechanical odometer when you get a new cluster, simply get one of those tiny screwdrivers that watch makers use ($5 -$10 or so at Supercheap and Bunnings etc) and you should see a tiny indent in the odometer digits.

Place the screwdriver in there and carefully force the digit either up or down to get the next number and continue doing so until you get your original odometer reading. It will click when it is at the next number.

It is quite a delicate operation so just be careful that you don't let the screwdriver slip from the indent as it will most likely scratch the numbers or your dials. Having said that, it should not take too long and is free if you already have the screwdriver set.

I fitted blue faced VRX gauges into my magna august last year as the red faced VRX gauges didnt suit my interior (originally my car came with white faced gauges from factory)

The blue dials do look good.

so how much did the cluster cost.

I bought brand new individual gauges (i sold my red faced vrx gauges to asylum and didnt want to change the faces over on my factory white gauges) as there was NO complete mechanical odometer clusters left in stock (but 1 could be made up for me by the gauge cluster supplier flexdrive if requested but it would take 20-25weeks due to "supply issues" with getting parts back from japanese storage warehouse).

My mitsu dealer mate then told me that i had got the last brand new fuel gauge, tacho and second last speedo and temp gauges held in stock by mitsubishi dealers and the P&A warehouse in australia, the rest had been sent to japan for storage and would take awhile for them to be sent back here if they were ordered for me because they wernt being used for a "warrenty" claim.

Looks ok, certainly better than many i've seen. you just need to match the front of the ash tray, and it looks like you might've oversprayed the hazard switch? (could just be the lighting...)

might look really good if you could do all the black controls in blue to match the dash, but i can imagine that it could also look really tacky, not to mention be a pain in the **** to do!
