Hello everybody!
Tried to drain the engine oil last night but ended up draining the tranny fluid instead
So anyhow, i drained about 5 litres and then i only put in 1 litre of new stuff in and the auto box was skipping and what not.
I put in an extra 3 litres at the servo. Is this enough? So in total i have around 4 litres in there.
Does it need more? Or will this be okay? It seems to be driving well :D
Thanks guys

You need to get rid of that crap out of your gearbox ASAP.
Dextron kills our gearboxes and you should only ever put the specified oil in such as Type M or Castrol TQM.

Nope not using dextron. Using Shell ATF III.
Would 4 litres be okay?

1. Your transmission does have a dipstick. Why not use it to check the level.
2. Use only the correct Mitsubishi fluid in your auto. Anything else could be expensive.

Oh yes, get that crap out of there, it has to be a very specific oil, why risk not using mitsu oil?
And why drive with only one litre in it in the first place? 5-1 = 4. You needed 4 more litres.
Damage may have already been done.

I love this forum. So much help in no time. Thanks guys.
It's got about 4 litres in there now. How much should it have? Isn't 6 litres the max the sump can hold? :D

Most people buy transmission oil from the dealers as it is the correct fluid and is cheapest!
I agree, better to have all drained out and put in proper stuff.

The only way to be sure whether the level is correct is to check it on the dipstick.
If someone told you how many litres it would only be a guide as the slope of the car and other variable will determine how much of the old stayed in there.
So, check the dipstick. (See Attachment)

Agreed. I have asked a transmission specialist which is the correct fluid. DEFINITELY NOT DEXRON !!! The correct fluid is Genuine Mitsubishi or ATF labelled for 4speed Ford or 95LE

Well we already stated it did damage to some. Look at the Lubricating chart from Shell's website. They never RECOMMEND using their brand in regards to ATF and specified using Mitsubishi recommended.
Furthermore the fluid by the dealers is reasonably cheap compared to any brand which can be used.

Whoa damn. Just goes to show i'm pretty ignorant when if comes to this kind of stuff :noway:
I'll duck into mitsu tomorrow morning and grab some tranny fluid for the car then.
Thank god you guys told me.
Much appreciated
