Ok, got my New wheel on with the boss kit, now i dont have a horn, and my indicators dont flick back up once ive finished the turn.
I was told to get the indicator stalks from the SE Or Elite but the wreckers only had a normal Exec One or the KS Rada with airbag one....
Now the guy at the wreckers told me i can simply wire in my horn to the exsisting contacts on the indicator stalk thingy....
So does anyone know how to get this working 100%? Ill still hunt down the SE One but for the moment ill try and find out as much as i can about getting this working as possible...
Any input apprecited

my horn didnt work either tili fixed it. all i did was get an earthing wire that touches the inside rim of the boss kit. fixed that problem, cost me nuthin. didnt have the indicator problem tho. did the earthing wire bit make sense?

Well i took the circle contact thingy off the old wheel and put it on the new wheel and hooked it up to that earth strap that was coming from the button but alas still nothing!

easiest way to fix:
go to Whats New at your nearest shopping centre (Highpoint probably), and buy a little sign that says "Horn broken, watch for finger!" :bowrofl:

oh yeh i just remembered. when u take the stock wheel off theres a brass plate behind it. there is a spring mechanism that MUST touch it in order for your horn to work. mine was a hassle to get workin, and ever now it doesnt work all the time, i gotta get back in and have another look :doubt:
but yeh make sure ur earth wire is there and touching, and ur springs things are touching the brass plate. hows that?

Thats what i noticed too!
So i ripped off that brass plate and put it onto the new wheel, and ran a wire from there to the horn.
but yeah, still nothing...ill suss it out another day, sick of taking cars apart atm

may not be what you want but you could simply get a little momentary switch from DSE and just re-wire the horn to it and have it mounted within easy reach (ie, where the cruise switch is?) might take some getting used to, or you could try and re-wire it through the steering.
damn should have looked at it for you yesterday:confused:

The ground wire should connect up to the button on your new steering wheel and it all should work.
As for the indicators, i thought the boss kit was suppose to fix that, i have the same problem when i installed my 3rd gen steering wheel, i just learnt to live with it, but yeh if you get an SE switch it's suppose to fix it.
I would think the KR one would be the same, pretty sure its the switch that goes with the funky looking steering wheels, the ones that look like arrows.

Actually my indicators STAY DOWN (Or up lol) and wont "flick" back.
I'll get someone to check it out whenever...no rush...
but yeah from the horn to the wheel there is only 1 wire which i ran to the circle brass thing behind the wheel which is supposed to make contact with that springy thing :s
confusing

Yeah i hear ya dood.
havent tried the turning + beeping thing, but all i do know is when i checked out the aftermarket horns today at work, they had 2 prongs coming outta them, and i have only 1.
of course im guessing is that the horn acts as a switch sorta thing, so ya press it it makes the cuircut, so as to why i have 1 prong has f**ked me over

You should only need 1 prong as the steering wheel grounds itself through the steering column i believe, then when you press the button it completes the circuit.
On your steering wheel you'll see the metal springed prong that sticks out, your boss kit should touch this in a way, and should have a way of attaching your buttons prong to the boss kit. I never got a boss kit so i cant say how it does it, but it should.

I made the brass circle join up to the wire coming from the steering wheel..
But yeah ill get some pics and go from there

Iv'e got a bosskit and a aftermarket steering wheel, mine work fine because I followed the instrustions on that came in the box.
The reason for what you stating is that you did not put the indication arrow pointing up, so the spline which turn off the the indicator are not where their supposed to be.
As for the horn not working for the other people, It has some thing to do with the steering colum.
Also If you get a scraping noise when turning it's from some of the plastic under the bosskit touching that never used too.

just an idea, have you tried to earth it in other places?
like with a length of cable almost like a test lead but different?
might help to find the location of the problem

this sounds like fun... i wanna get a steering wheel now :) it might make my car easier to turn :bowrofl:
lol i think when you put on the after market steering.. ur supposed to do it with the old steering wheel straight... (so i have been told) this eliminates the indicator stalk problem... as for the horn.. just a wiring issue i would say...

Funny though cause from the old wheel to the new wheel everything looks the same...weird..

Ok lets see if i can help or just confuse some ppl.
I installed an after market wheel. I had to put the wire between the boss kit and wheel to earth it then when you press the horn to it then it completes the circuit. i didnt have any indicator problems but i made sure it was all lined up properly ie wheels straight and steering wheel straight cause it wont work if ya wheels arent pointing forward.
if that doesnt make sense i can take some piccies to help ya out.

You crack me up!!
umm ok i THINK ive solved the issue.
The horn has one terminal.
Terminal goes to ring of brass
at work i had a peek at the boss kits and the horn had 2 terminals, 1 went to the brass ring, and the other earthed to the actuall boss....
so it seems i just havent got it earthed....so yeah, may of figured this one out

Sorry but since im a complete dick i saw a horn at work, with 2 terminals, so i got it, only to find out its the actuall horn that makes noise, not the thing you press....
err anyone have one they can give/sell me? i need the thing you actually press lol not the horn itself
