its an old amp... alpine MRV-1507
now the manual sez that it puts out 900 W RMS @ 4Ω bridged @ 14.4V

i have 2 x 12in subs...alpine type R DVC, SWR-1221D (dual 2Ω)
these are wired in parallel producing a 2Ω on the amp.

...so the amp is running @ ____W rms @ 2Ω bridged @ 14.4V

the amp has never gone into protection, play loud and long all the time. subs dont seem to have a problem with it either. its been like this for years...

is the a way i can test how much power it is putting out at 2Ω?

Any hel would be much appreciated

Why do you need to know? in reality an amp will never be putting out its rated power with dynamic music. As long as your amp isnt overheating/clipping and the subs arent going beyond their limits you'll be fine.

You can figure out the current draw from the amp and work it out roughly.

But you wont have the equipment to do it, I assume theres no rated power at 2 ohms for the amp. In a perfect world it will put out double the power at half the impedance although some amplifier topologies dont follow this rule.

Peace

i dont need to knw. gains are set below "NOM", subs dont clip when listening to music, they do with test tones when the volume gets to about 3/4 on my h/u

ijust wouldnt mind knowing the power it would be putting out. from what i learnt in physics id just need to test ACV & DCV, the rest is all math...or is it?

fantastic amp, i have, wait for it...... 7 of these. have managed to only blow up 3, 2 from a massive power surge and having no fuses.... yeah im an idiot. but they are fixed now. if you ever weant to sell this amp or your subs, please let me know.
