Hey alll...before i get the do a search thing, i did and didnt get the answerers i want....

anyway... on my last serivce my mechanic told me i should get my gearbox serviced but since i didnt have the $140 for it at them time i declined... but then again he also told me i had to get my timing belt chnaged despite the fact that it had been changed 10,000km ago

so that made me a little sus of him and i am wonder if he is just trying to screw money out of me....

So, when should i get my TF's auto tranny serivced?

im currently got 112,000km on the dial..... also is 140 about right for this kind of job?

I have no idea on price for this type of stuff, as prices are way different from country to city... Did you tell him that the timing belt had been done ??... Cos he might of seen the Klms n just thought "Maybe its not done" with out even checking it.

On the auto tranny there will be a dipstick, same as engine oil check it every now n then, if low then top her up. If you feel your gearbox is making "different" noises then throw some automatic addative, just make sure is auto n not manual addative.

I changed my GB oil (manual) it was pretty easy to do, n trust me Im no mechanic lol.... $140 sounds like pure labour to do it (In other words a waste)

Ring other places for quotes, usually a auto place might be a bit cheaper, however $140 is about how much mitsubishi charge, its always cheaper to do it yourself.

If something seems sus from a mechanic try a different place.

Transmission oil should be changed if the oil is not bright red at the dipstick, if you notice any leaks or if the gear changes are abit clunky/delayed, if the oil is a browny colour or its low get it done.

I'm sure theres a DIY on changing oil on here, use 'advanced search' and theres a alot of disscusions on what people find the best oil to use.
