i got a 94 ts station wagon. i've read through a far bit of the forum and most comments are about sedans. what do you suggest to install to a station wagon.
so far it's got stock speakers in the dash and
i've got a new sony h/u Md player / radio MDX-CA790X (which is yet to be installed).
any ideas for 6x9 placement and stacker placement ?
and other possiblities ?
Plus places in the newcaslte maitland area worth looking at for gear and installation?

dude 6x9's were only designed for parcel shelves. wagons aint gone none so luckily for us we dont need to worry about that. get some custom boxes built around your wheel hubs and get some good splits for the front AND rear, then mount a sub in the middle and bobs your uncle!

A Maitland boy, eh? Me too, welcome to the forum. My best suggestion as to where to buy your gear is: "shop around". Seriously, don't just be fooled like I was to go straight to JB in Kotara and expect to get the best deal. Although, the beauty of going into Kotara is that you have Strathfield and JB right next to each other, so if you wanted you could just play them off against each other to get the best deal.
Otherwise, if you're good at bargaining, go to Maitland Car Audio which is in Greenhills, opposite KFC. He doesn't stock a huge amount of stuff but he can get just about anything you want. Or there's the guys at Nova Car Sound. I haven't had anything to do with these guys personally but I hear they're pretty good, and they have guys who really know what they're on about.
Okay, as MAGWGN said 6x9s are designed for parcel shelves. A round cone will always sound better than an oval or other shaped cone, as it is symmetrical and, thus, has even dispersion of sound. So, don't get 6x9s for your wagon.
I may be able to help you out with the installation if you'd like, however I'm only home on the weekends and I'm in Sydney the rest of the week. PM me if you wanna hand with anything and I'll see if I can help you out. Seriously, I know its been said heaps on this forum, but paying for an installation that could be very dodgy, is a waste of money.

There's nothing wrong with wagons. Look at it like this: There's more Magna to love in a wagon. Although there are more windows to clean, but I do miss that rear windscreen washer in my sedan :(

Forgot to mention this in my post this morning: Stacker Placement. I'm guessing you don't want it to be seen/stolen, so my only suggestion is under one of the front seats. My Dad and I mounted a 6-CD changer under the driver's seat in my Mum's Pajero. Lots of people on this forum mount their amps under the passenger seat, so it shouldn't be too hard to do. I guess you'd have to rip the seat out to do it, but it's worth it.
Otherwise you could think about a little custom box in the back somewhere, but even that would probably look like it was worth stealing to some of those bogans in Maitland (you know the ones - they drive Box Falcons with Chisel blearing and they wear flannos or faded Metallica T-Shirts)

I'm also looking to install some rear speakers in my wagon.
Does anyone who has installed rear speakers in a wagon have any pictures?

No pics yet, ill try and get something.
What I have built is two boxes from MDF. I think the volume is 15L or around there. Now each box has a 6x9" in it. Both boxes sit next to each other and is nudged right behind the back seat with ropes tight tight around them.
However this isnt the most secure thing to do, since people can see your 6x9's. But what I can do is have them face towards the tailgate which means i can put my security blind on. THe boxes aint square, they are rectangleish, hehe.
This way its hidden, but the definition is lost, however you do get a bit more bass :) Mind you i dont have a sub yet for the car since I need practicality.
My plan was to cover the boxes in black carpet and sit them up right, then move the security blind about 20cm towards the tailgate so it still works, that way I can also hide a sub too.
In regards to changers, I've mounted mine underneath my passenger seat.

I think I'm going to install my rear speakers in the side walls under the windows. Held the front covers for my 6x9s there and it looks pretty sweet.
Anyway, without taking the side panels off, it looks like there is enough room, but where is the best place to run the speaker wire??

Probably under the scuff plates.

Running the wires down the side of the car looks pretty easy, but what's the easiest way to run the wires around the glovebox and that?

Easy, once you reach the scuff plates, start undo'ing your kick panels, glovebox, glovebox surrounding...ditto.
Then route wire(s).....
