Glad to see you're going for a good brand. Stay clear of the e-bay no-name jobbies.
I bought one of these for about $100. Honestly, it's been the biggest heap of crapola i've bought in my life. The features are great on paper and it looks great too. USB and SD card input CD player blue backlight buttons and screen. I was really happy with it for about 2-3 weeks then things started to go wrong. It's now about 6 months old, hardly been used and it is totally ******. When it's in any more than about 30 degrees, the tuner doesn't work, the removable face plate clip broke about 1 minute after the 30 day warranty ran out and the volume knob falls off if you break too hard. I can't believe that there are people in the world making such shoddy stuff. :disgusted

yeah, i have been tempted for the cheap no names (ok dvd player with screen for same price) but have heard many a bad things, hows the CDR Computers & Electronics dvd player fair against a decent named cd player?

If your looking for a good USB head deck try looking at clarion ive recently bought a DB566USB and it is a really good unit. mp3, wma, CD audio and an AUX input to boot.
If you want the specks try here

They are relitivly cheep too, mine was about $250ish (installed myself so i saved a bit there too)

Well we can hook up 2 amps i have found some more head unit with usb first we got axis it a crappy australian brand but ok it's better than the ones you can buy from super cheap http://www.audioxtra.com.au/?pageId=2991&shoppage=product&productId=11441 for $199
Is this the jvc one you are looking at

Be aware of the speed too. A 2gb flash drive takes a while to register all the mp3's before playback. Also most dont resume back to the second when you stop/start the car. Maybe the clarion ones are different. I had a cheapy with USB and SD card and found it annoying that is didnt resume back and the time it took to play also. The SD cards are usually instant playback. This is just from my experience might not be the case with Clarion/JVC :)

Howdy all;
The clarion unit is pretty good when it comes to play back off the flash stick, ive only had a slight trouble when i didnt plug the stick in all the way. As for the amps im running two at the moment without too much hassle the only thing being the head unit doesnt have a sub woofer control its only the rear speaker out put (i think)
Thanks

Its no real problen if it doesnt have it you just do the addjustments on the amps and dedicate the rear stage to the sub(s), as ive done with mine, but if you want an actual dedicated sub output then yeah the JVC is probably the way to go
Thanks

I would go JVC. Their USB HUs are great value for money, they have 4 or 5V pre outs, sub control etcetc.
Everything you need really.
Some examples:
KD-DV7205 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BRAND-NEW-JVC-DVD-MP3-WMA-CD-PLAYER-KD-DV7205_W0QQitemZ320073020847QQihZ011QQcategoryZ505 59QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
KD-G725 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-2006-JVC-KD-G725-WMA-MP3-CD-PLAYER-With-USB-Port_W0QQitemZ190072136298QQihZ009QQcategoryZ50559 QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
My personal choice would be:
KD-G825 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-2006-JVC-KD-G825-WMA-MP3-CD-PLAYER-With-USB-Port_W0QQitemZ190072136337QQihZ009QQcategoryZ50559 QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

JVC KD-DV7205 (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-2006-JVC-KD-DV7205-DVD-VCD-CD-MP3-WMA-PLAYER_W0QQitemZ190074354079QQihZ009QQcategoryZ505 59QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
USB, dvd playback, divx, etc etc, for $445 :) just add a screen into the 2nd din slot when you have the money, and you have a full setup for like $700 easy :)

Or you could always get a hu with aux in and buy a decent gps (if you dont already have one) and use that as an mp3 player. Sd card instead of a flash drive. Just a thought.
