i know this should be in car audio but its urgent (thanks for understanding please move it after tonight)

I need the wiring diagram for a 96 TE altera Headunit ive got one to install and dont have much time to do it in.. i just wanna know colour - purpose ie red power etc :)

hmm is the TE headunit same as a TF advanced headunit? if so i may be able to go check for all the colours

worse comes to worse, you can always try each wire out.. the couple of thick wires are always + or - terminals, usually Red , black, yellow, they stand out because they are FAT!

Speaker wires are thin and just make sure you keep to one convention when you connect them up, eg, wires with strips = -ve terminal.

you can always do it this way, you won't need to know what is what, you should be able to give it power, connect up the thicker (red , black, yellow) to the HU. and then from there, just trail and error the speaker setup.

Have you got a multimeter? That'll take the guess work out and save you replacing a lot of fuses. By process of elimination, you can find all the wires:

Continuity to a metal part of the car - Ground wire
12V with key switched to off position - 12V
12V only when key is switched to ACC - ACC
Aerial rises when 12V is applied - Aerial

Hook up an AA battery to the terminals of each speaker at its harness (obviously disconnect head unit + the speakers). Then go back to the radio harness and test combinations of pairs until you find +1.5V that is your wire pair for that speaker. If you get -1.5V obviously you have them the wrong way, be careful or you'll get shitty sounding out of phase speakers.
