History:
I currently have a K&N Panel.
I will change this to a K&N Pod soon (shielded from heat of course).
I have one of Barry’s Fuel Rail Kits (which has not been fitted to the car).

I’ve also picked myself up a RPW FSE Fuel Pressure Regulator Kit.

Question:
After I install the Fuel Pressure Regulator, will the Fuel Rail Kit still do anything or should the Fuel Pressure Regulator fix any problems the Fuel Rail Kit is designed to fix?

ie. Should I…
1. Install just the Fuel Pressure Regulator
or
2. Install both (Fuel Pressure Regulator & Fuel Rail Kit) ?

Thanks Guys & Gals.

bah you've paid for both, install them both. Waste of money otherwise.

hey dude, install both and could you please tell me how those regulators go, i was interested a few weeks back as to if they actually would make a gain. thanks

Guess I'll install one then the other.
Hard to gauge effect if I install both at once.
Hmmm, which one to do first?

Main point/concern I had was that one wouldn't cancel the other out or have any bad effects on each other.

Fuel Rail Kit - Won it on AMC.
Fuel Pressure Regulator - Picked it up 2nd hand from SEON.

Hi GRD...

The Fuel Rail Kit was designed to improve acceleration from ~1500RPM to ~3000RPM where fitting a Hi-flow air filter caused a loss of power

It works by raising the temp of the fuel, which vaporises more easily and increases power and throttle response - and it does not rely on using any extra fuel

A high rate fuel pressure regulator will force more fuel through the injectors and may help where you have a pod filter

My suggestion is :-

Fit the Panel filter and assess performance
Fit the Fuel Rail Kit with Panel filter and assess performance
Fit the Pod filter and assess any noticeable difference
If you feel that performance has not decreased by fitting the Pod, then I would leave it there - but do not remove any inlet resonators - they actually help torque and you will also get an improved exhaust tone from the Fuel Rail Kit / resonators combination

Cheers, Barry

yes old post buut.

did these tests ever get performed. I've read bucket loads of panel vs pod, with CAI, without CAI, with fuel rail kit, without. but although theres all this debate, i have not found a good answer stating which is the best combination.

at the moment ive got a panel filter but ive got to replace the box for the filter as the clips are broken and also the bolts that attach it to the throttle body. so i was thinking of getting a pod with a box and some piping for CAI.

now with barry's mod would switching to a pod work as well if not better then a panel.
and would i need the fuel pressure regulator.

Hi Barry, please enlighten me, how can resonators that are designed to tackle harmonics of sound actually help torque?

did these tests ever get performed. Can't answer all your questions as I'm not a mechanic or mechanically minded, but I can let you know that I didn't end up doing it all anyway.
The Fuel Pressure Reg went on but not the pod or fuel rail kit.
Now my attention has moved from the TS Wagon, to the Ralliart. The Pod that was planned for the wagon, is now on the Ralliart and the FPR will follow suit soon. The wagon will retain the K&N Panel.
