what makes it a change in generation anyway? the TL seems deifferent to the TE/TF/TH/TJ, man that was a long generation

because i believe every little thing will be changed the most noticeable obviously the body. as you can tell the tl rear might as well be the same as the rest is just has round edges. they changed the front just as a facelift because sales were down and exports were down in the US, and they couldnt leave it the same until 2005 cuz this generation has been around since like 96 was it.this new one will be a whole new platform and i believe different engine. Long generation it was and its hurting mitsubishi. they need a whole new fresh looking car, that will hopefully give them even more sale and more exports.

It can't be called the TP, because the 1st Gen Magna already used that name.

1st Gen - TM, TN, TP
2nd Gen - TR, TS
3rd Gen - TE, TF, TH, TJ, TL

I have also read that there will not be a wagon in the new 2005 magna range.

They will instead be building a LWB (Long wheel base) model for export to the U.S and middle east. (They may release it here)

they build the friggen thing here, they might as well try sell some here

its like Chrysler building the dodge Viper in Melb and only selling it in the US.. i mean, how friggn dodgy is that! if they build it here, then the least they could do is offer it here. lol.

don't worry magwgn. u'll have to beat me to them    There must be a wagon !!! !!! !!!

And booya, they did offer the viper here, but in the 12months or so it was on sale they sold like 10 australia wide, so they've discontinued it here.

ive read that those vipers are total rubbish for their price tag, n its a simple case of paying for the look. (see car(UK) magazine)

would it still be FWD?

I wonder if the LWB models would be sold here as Veradas, with all the standard ones being Magnas?

Not sure...maybe it might be AWD?

Good point Deanodriver, again I am not sure...sounds like something Mitsubishi would do though! :)

The rumors I keep hearing about the 2005 Having A V8 with the 6 better be true. I reckon they could probably show Ford & Holden a new thing or two. Then again the Holden 8 is stone age technology

dont worry holdens gettin the Gen IV soon and the new HFV6(high feature)

The Gen IV still uses the same design as Gen III, just the ECU and the boreXstroke changes to bring up the KW. The HFV6 though is another story, they better turbocharge it right away or ford will eat us alive with the XR6T

I also thought they were going to drop the magna name, but all press reasleases from MMAL refer to the 2005 + MAGNA.

Well the Galalnt looks like an ugly piece of shit so I hope they don't look too much like that... I'd rather a TL even.. god.. damn.. :)

yeah i believe from what ive read holden is gonna stop supercharging and start turbo'ing the new HFV6. the LS1 is still a very good engine just look at the corvette, but i know what yoru sayin.

22-02-2004, 06:07 PM
I reckon that Holden have some of the crappiest engines around.... They have pushrod OHV engines yet every tom dick and harry is buying them. The Gen III V8 has its fair share of problems too.... Overated!
