umm i was just thinking of TJ AWD mags on it.
Get all the mechanicals done first mate!
Look into the air con, being summer and all..have you got the service history? Has it missed any services? You say mechanically sound, is that everything? Be sure.
Once you've got her running perfectly, chuck some nice rims and lower it!

the only problem with the car is the water pump, a week back it was leaking and now it seems to be fine. But i did flush the radiator out and refill it up.

1500 for V6 manual........ee by gum..thats a bargain (uses bad ****ney accent)
Get the Ac up to speed, if you dont know about its history id give her a full service and maybe even stick in a new timing belt to be sure.
Then worry about the pretty shtuff...:D

Get that replaced immediately, there will be no indication as to its failure, so get it fixed quick smart ;) Not worth wasting a good engine.

If you are replacing the water pump then replace the timing belt at the same time. The belt has to be taken off to get to the water pump and its a bit of work to get all the way in there.

nice mate! lol us V6 manuals must stick together! picked mine up for $2000 with 100000 on the clock, but yours sounds nice! All u gotta do is, put a mad intake in it, big 4 1/2" cannon exhaust so she can breath properly and dump it a few inchs on 18's n then uve got a kick ass looking girl.
Welcome again,
Cheers,

i will agree with you on the intake, not a cannon fan. And for rims im getting TJ AWD 16 inch mags and getting her lowered, thats my plans soo far.

16's will do... u may feel like changing them later as they might look a bit small on her...but its a hell of a lot better than the old stockies!

hey guys, what fuel economy results are youse getting, the magna seems to be going through a fair bit of fuel.
dimi108
26-01-2007, 05:56 PM
Mine is around 14-15 ltrs per 100km. Mine goes through quite a bit of fuel too.
What have you gotten?
It should normally be around 12ltr/100km.
Some members claim to have had around 600km per full tank.
I'm only getting around 350-400km's a full tank if i'm lucky

bout right, though it is high. My 2.6L never got more than 400kms to a tank, and i have heard that the V6 does get better economy, but if the consumption is worrieing you, just remember, its comparitivly better than the 2.6L!!!:D :D

i get 450km per tank city driving. never done a full tank on highway driving yet but id imagine it to be somewhere around 600km, maybe more. 2.6L represent!!!! haha yeh my intake rox!

What would be best to tune for better fuel consumption?
Spark plugs, Transmission flush, Engine flush, ECU upgrade?
Pretty much all I can think about right now?
I think it was MADDOG who said he gets around 700km per full tank?
He did a tranny flush and some other things?
Forgot what those were again.

cheapest things to do would be to get decent ngk spark plugs, hi performance ignition leads, k&n air filter, use better fuel.
if u wanna spend money go for exhaust and extractors. theres plenty of stuff out there

Yeah thats true, but i see no point in spending $400 to save money on fuel when it would take a fair while to recoup. but in saying that i want performance and these would be well worth it and today i found out that my sports exhaust was Lukey!

hey man, if u want performance, throw on extractors and a sports exhaust. you'll be redlining 1st gear in no time at all. makes a huge difference. then do a cold air induction, the bigger the better :D

Got a pic of your cold air intake system man?
I want to get that done.

i did it all myself as you can tell lol. i cut a hole through the engine bay and through the front bumper (which i now regret). my revs top out alot higer, 6200 rather than 5600rpm. better acceleration, speed and economy.
its all here:

Hell yer mate. sounds a bit like a wrx, especially at higher revs. i can hear the induction sound now, whereas without the cai i couldnt. only positives to it. no negatives!:D

I only just paid $2400 for the exact same model, except with 340,000km  ...so you've done very well! I'm not sure what work has been done, but like yours it is very fine condition from what I can tell (aircon does work on mine, thankfully!). It's got alloys, 10-stack CD (plus amp), and the exhaust has been done too - not sure if anything else was done, but it's quite nice just with that. We were in a bit of a rush to get a new car, after the old one blew up, and were just very fortunate to find the Magna when we did. Wouldn't have wanted to pay too much more than what we did, but I think we got a great car for the money even so.
I hadn't realised the manual 6 was such a comparatively rare beast, so now I'm even happier still! I hated with a passion that the Crummydore was an auto, and had vowed the next car would be a manual...so it just gets better! :D

thanks mate i have checked up on the a few weeks back, sounds like a hard job but one that has to be done.
Check some of the responses in my threads from last week or so - mine has 340,000km on it and I was after advice on what people recommended, and got some fantastic responses and good check lists of stuff to take care of sooner than later and so on. If you've got a pretty good car, it's worth spending a few $$$ to make it even better and reduce the chance of even greater costs down the track just because you didn't replace something you should have...
If you're unsure of the service history, then DEFINITELY replace the timing belt, and get the water pump done at the same time as others have advised. A good mechanic will put a full timing belt kit in, which includes a bunch of new seals for various bits too. It will cost me $844 to get a timing belt kit installed, along with new water pump and alternator/aircon belts. Yes, that is a lot of money, but think of the peace of mind and $$$ saved by knowing they wont fail now! You only spent $1500 on it anyway, so another grand in maintenance still makes it a bargain! Better safe than sorry.

congrats on the V6 manual and for $1500 at the rate im going it will cost that to get mine changed to manual !
oh well, i would get your normal 200k service done if you dont know the history, ie, all belts and timing belt, water pump, all new plugs and leads, disy cap and rotor, radiator flush, oil and filter change... well thats all i can think of right now, thats what im doing atleast, although my engine is in parts so a full rebuild ill probably happen too.
if you have mechanical knowledge or just some know-how you should be able to do all of that with out to much hassel, even easier if you have the workshop manual.

hmmm...I wouldn't be recommending you do the timing belt and seals on your own, unless you REALLY know what you are doing, or have the on-the-spot assistance of someone else who does. It's far too important a part to risk putting on incorrectly just to save a few dollars. The other stuff is fine, but I wouldn't take chances with that one.

hey guys thanks, just went down to rocky for the weekend, did 710kms on 66L,(9.3L/100km) thought that was alright. And for this week im going to see what it does in the city. thanks for all the maintance help.

What kind of service has it had lately? If I could achieve 600km to a full tank and I would be over the moon
