hey. i have a troublesome starter motor.
i have been told to crack it with a hammer or spanner while turning the key over and it should start. car not starting anymore, been assured it's the starter motor.

fair enough. but where is it?
is it below the alternator?

does anyone have any pics that they can show me before i take to my engine with a hammer.

97 TF 3.0 V6 auto, by the way.

thanks

are you sure its the starter motor?
i would be checking your battery for starters

done all that before. just a week ago to be precise.

batt checked, some relays replaced a couple of other things. (had ants in the relay box causing dramas, didn;t start then, and was told that the starter motor was on the way out).

but it has been slow to start before.

Follow the oil dipstick down to the block. You will see the starter motor off to the the right hand side ( gearbox side ) You may need to remove some of your air intake ducting to see it clearly. Just don't break the solenoid when you hit it

Try shorting it out with a screw driver.. Will do big sparks so dont recomend it unless you know what you are doing..:P

I mean big sparks..:P
