My car dosn't start at the moment and I think it has something to do with the electrical side of things. It had a new gearbox installed and it hasn't started since. And before anyone asks, no the battery isn't flat, its fully charged.
When I turn the key the cog in the starter motor clicks out and in but it dosn't spin, when I pull it out of the car it does spin. I got it checked out at an auto electrician and they reckon they couldn't see anything wrong with it at all. The starter motor was removed from the car and hooked up to power to see if it worked while wasn't under the car (easier to see) and the cog did spin but there didn't seem to be much torque. The starter motor has to put out enough torque to spin the whole engine so I was told by a number of people to put it in a vice before it was powerd up or I'd be losing my fingers, when the starter is spinning I could hold it with one hand and even sit it on the ground without it even budging an inch. That dosn't seem right to me because thats not enough torque to spin the engine but the auto elec said that it looked ok.
The engine/gearbox side of things seems to be ok because it all turns when the torque converter is turned with a screw driver. all the engine pulleys and the converter turn togeather so everything seems to be aligned ok.
I hope someone can help, I'm stumped and have no ideas left!
