hi guys
well i have finally installed my christmas present and after a long long time i am finally happy,

well i now have Diamond Audio Splits (m551) which sound awesome, nice clear, tight and good looking as well!!! but i do have a problem it starts (the left one only) to clip, well that sort of cracking sound, only when i turn it real loud,

i have sorta properly adjusted the gain but im not very sure!!!!

can someone help, and also any recommendation on making my huge jbl sound a bit tighter coz it just doesn't blend with the splits, that big bass thing is ruining everything!!!

also one good thing with the x-overs is that i have a tertiary output for my rear fill, or connect another x-over and get a 3 way!!! how cooool !

thanks for the help!!!

Is it possible that it is actually something in the door rattling since it's only the left channel? Sometimes the weathershield can be culprit. Or perhaps your gain settings inbetween L&R aren't even.

May be a structural defect in the driver (which I hope it isn't, and I'm sure you do too). Happens all the time here at work with brand new drivers. Or it could just be some dust or other foreign object in amongst the voice coil.

As for the bass thing, my only good suggestion is kinda useless for car audio, but when I'm mixing or mastering a recording that's kinda loose in the sub frequencies, I'd use a multi-band compressor or limiter set to around 100Hz-250Hz to squash the low end. I don't think there are any car audio companies that make Multi-Band Compressors :-k

Maybe try rolling the filter down, or adjusting your gain, or maybe a smaller sub.

if your deck puts out 2 volts set your input gain to 2 volts and then use pretty much a flat line equalizer with minimal boosting..... and make sure you are crossing the middrivers off at around 80hz-100hz depending on the amount of power you have on tap. then there should be no reason why you cant max the deck out without distortion....

the bass thing. same again turn the gains to the proper input voltage and depending on the size and subwoofer have the crossover set accordingly.

another reason the bass could sound crappy is the box might be too big.... and/or have you put some sort of sound dampening inside the box?
if not run down to spot light buy some dacron poly fill or hobby wool sometimes clled. white stuff. and fill the box up. not too packed as it will be taking up volume but loosely 200grams $3.70 the best $3.70 you will have ever spent...... ver noticeable...
