Howdy all;
I recently finished installing a set of speakers into the doors of my second gen and i encountered the holes that the map holders have left, so my question is how did everyone who has installed speakers like this cover the pre-mentioned holes that have bee left. I did a search and i could only find a paln of how to do the door inserts (which ill do at a later stage, maybe).
Any help and advice would be greatly apprecitated
Thanks

Ok you have 2 options
make an MDF cutout (out of 3mm or similar) of the bottom door mould...then cover it in fabric....and screw the speaker into that, so that will cover all the exsisting holes....+ you can cover it in whatever ya want..

Or get the KS Verada door pods, pretty sure these will go onto any exsisting door trim and you can keep the factory look;)

The idea of the MDF is a good one, I have spacer rings on the standard trims and they stick out a fair bit (pic 1) and i didnt want them to stick to an obsene extent (plus they are going to be a b@$7@rd to get off the door)
How exactly would you cover the and then screw on the MDF btw? I looked at one of your (TUFFTR) interior shots and me being of simple mind when talking about this subject got a bit puzzled by it all.
Thanks

Ok, i just got some cardboard and made a rough cutout of the bottom trim, you know how it sort of recesses around the whole bottom area?

then transfer that to MDF
of course its ALOT easier if you take off the door trim and trace onto the back of the MDF through the hole
Cut the hole out.
Cover in fluff (or whatever you like hahah)
Then glue it to the doortrim
and/or screw it FROM BEHIND

The just screw your speaker into this covering.
Just refer to pics of my doortrim to see what i mean.
hope that explained SOME of it.
wont take more then a few hours.
if you have a staple gun that saves a good hour of gluing the fabric to the MDF

It's allright man... by the time they are affected by that comment, it's all become too much, and they've moved (or at least tried) onto a better place.

My map pockets are damaged, somebody got rough with my doors prior to me owning it... I could always pillage the nice SE ones... mmm reflecty.

You'll still be able to see a few of the holes... :rant: :rant:

Whats the difference between the TS and KS door trims? i know that the KS is a higher model and more luxurious looking but thats about it. And Lucifer i got 2 spare map holders laying around if you really need them. They are just lying around taking up space at the moment.
Thanks

The ks door trims have speaker mounts ect already, think the map pocket is smaller and also have a red light :P maybe worth gettin some, if u can get em cheap

I got some of the KS speaker pods the other week, cost me maybe $10 :D
These fit in with the lines of the TS door trims, once the map pocket is off. Haven't installed mine yet, and don't think I have any photos of pods anywhere.

Only other difference is that I'm fairly sure the KS is exclusively power windows, so no hole in the trim for the window winder. And the armrest is different for the window switches, but is the same basic setup.

There's still a set at my local wreckers, but it is a blue interior.

Howdy all;
Just to revisit an old topic. Ive been working on the front door plans for the bottom inserts, in my magna, and looked at doing the back ones and thought to myself "how do i get around those Bl##dy ash trays". Im guessing you just cover them with the covered MDF. They are totally useless as no one is game enough to even try to smoke in my car(a crime punishable by keelhauling)
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
