Hi guys,
I am new to the forum. Have a 3.0ltr v6 ts wagon. Idle died yesterday. read articles and found that the idle stepper motor is a common problem. Replaced it, and now car idles, although a little bit high (1100 - 1200rpm)at normal operating temp. i noticed some threads about re-setting the isc, or changing the base idle using the screw on top of the throttle body. (Not the throttle stop screw). What should I do? does the idle need re-setting, or will the computer sort it out?

To set the base idle speed on the V6, you actually need to switch off the idle control system, something I still haven't quite understood how to do. I think it involves earthing the wire in the top back of the engine bay on the passenger's side, the one that terminates in a capped plug.

Only when you have disabled the system can you set the idle, as otherwise the system will keep trying to compensate when you move the screw!

Mine could probably do with a tweak, I think it's always idled on the low side.
