Why was that a question...?

quickest way to stop my speedo vibrating, was take the missus' 'toy' off it.

lol yeh mine has speed wobbles like a mofo. Especially wobbles over 140... like the car is gonna fall apart. (probably is actually)

Has anybody ever considered this: the speedo is actually fine.. its just our vision playing tricks? .. either that or too much weeeeed maaan.

I haven't had a Magna speedo apart but I am familar with this from older cars. As the speedo wears it develops an endfloat in the main shaft the needle is attached to. This caused the wobble as the aluminium disc moves closer and further away from the rotating magnet. The older type of speedos I am familar with had an adjustment just behind the dial to correct this. However if you over tighten it you finish up with a speedo that sticks.

The wobble is normally worse when the needle is near vertical.

As I said I am not familar with the innards of Magna speedos but feel that as a mechanical speedo it will be similar.
