I'm looking at getting a rear swaybar for my TJ wagon.

However, I'm not quite sure which Whiteline swaybar I need to order.

The only rear swaybar for a TJ wagon listed in Whiteline's catalogue is:
* Swaybar-heavy duty wagon with 5 link rear end

However, it's listed as a kit, rather than a replacement, and as my TJ has an OE rear swaybar, I don't want to buy a kit if I don't need all the components.

I emailed Whiteline for clarification, and they said:
The replacement swaybar on the rear of this car is the same for the sedan and the wagon and this is why we do not have a listing for the wagon or sedan separately as the same one fits both.

The part number you would be looking at is BMR70 (this is of course only if your car does not have 5 link rear end) for the TJ magna WITH OE swaybar.
In the catalogue, the description for the BMR70 is:
* Swaybar-heavy duty with OE swaybar

Is this correct?
Does the TJ wagon have the same rear suspension as the TJ sedan?
Which wagons had the 5 link rear end?

If the BMR70 is the correct rear swaybar for my TJ wagon, then the BMR70Z should also should also fit (BMR70Z is blade adjustable version of the BMR70).

Cheers,
Martin.

No the TE-TW SEDAN has multilink independent rear suspension (with a OE rear bar only fitted to the sports/vrx/ralliart models up to and including the TJ, then from TL- TW all sedans had a OE rear sway bar fitted.)

Wheres as the TE-TW WAGON has 5link beam rear axle (non independent) set up and all wagon models (TE-TW) had a OE rear sway fitted (that ran from one bottom suspension arm across to the other).

The whiteline bar that they specify for the wagon is BMR67, its a 22mm non adjustable rear sway bar

The BMR70 is the 22mm NON adjustable rear sway bar and the BMR70Z is the 22mm adjustable rear sway bar for the sports/vrx/ralliart models and all TL/TW sedans as those models came from factory with a rear sway bar.

Whiteline list the BMR67 as a kit, rather than a replacement bar.
Do I need the full kit?

Or does the BMR67 use the same mounting points as the OE bar?

Cheers,
Martin.

Best thing would be to ring whiteline directly (not just a dealer) and ask them but id say there sway bar mounts up differently to the factory fitted wagon sway bar hence why it is supplied as a kit. :)

Whiteline provided some photos of the BMR67 installed on a wagon (click images for larger versions):

These pics clearly show why the BMR67 is sold as a kit - it doesn't use the same mounting points as the wagon OE bar at all.

The OE bar is bolted to each lower control arm, and is not attached to the chassis or axle at all.
The mounting point of the OE bar can be seen in the first photo - it's the dark patch with 3 bolt holes in the centre of the lower control arm.

Cheers,
Martin.

I knew where the factory fitted bar bolted up mate because one of my first jobs at MMAL was in hardware, welding up the lower suspension arms and the wagon rear axles. :D
