Fans on the V6 2nd gen, the one on the drivers side, is the normal radiator fan, but the one on the left, can anyone tell me if this is just another radiator fan? I noticed this morning that it doesn't turn on whilst idling (in hot heat while the engine is at full temp) so i'm worried that it is dead. Can anyone give me some info on the passenger-side fan? Thanks!

The TR/TS workshop manual doesn't say anything about it that i can find.

Should come to life with the activation of air con... give it a go.

Yeah i did that, that's why i figured it can't be the A/C Condenser fan, even though it HAS to be, it must be dead.. Will test with a multimeter tomorrow.

Anyone know when this fan is triggered to turn on??

Check the relay in the main fuse box by replacing with another from a circuit that works.

Both fans should come on if either the temp sensor relay turns on or if the a/c relay turns on(they are shorted together at the relays). If one fan is working but not the other then there is a fault with the fan or with the wiring to that fan. The fan on the left (when sitting in the car) has a seperate fusible link in the fuse box (30A). If that has blown it will stop that fan from working.

When you put the A/C on does either fan start?

When the car gets hot does either fan start?

If the fan on the drivers side starts under both conditions but the passenger side one doesn't then the relays are fine and the problem is either the fan or fusible link.

This morning I'm going to try to run the fan from the battery first up to see if the bugger isn't out-right baked. Then on the weekend i'll check out the wiring if the fuse isn't knackered too.
