hey all, im new here i got an old ass carburettor 2.6L '85 magna as u can probably tell, cars done 140,000Kms all basically orignial nothing changed on it, so i go to chuck on this nice big pod filter i connected it to the intake where the tubing obviously goes to the side of the car i just hooked up the pod filter there, removed the old filter from the carby and the problem is.... the filter makes that nice grunt on another car (2005 suzuki liana dont ask) but not on mine... perhaps its the distance it is away or perhaps carby is the problem i got no idea where 2 start little help perhaps i just screwed everything up???
thanx :D

there's ur problem. 1st gen magna's don't like pod fillters. because the afm is a vortex type not live wire like alot the old magna's have truoble reading the air coming into the engine from a pod . thats why if u asked here about a pod , u'd be recommended to get the panel filter which will fit in the factory air box. they will run with a pod ut not really well. 140 000kms is pretty low for a first gen, that being said if u change all the filter's and fliuds eg. fuel filter, air fillter, spark plugs, leads dizzy cap and button, engine oil/filter, tranny oil and filter. The first gen seem to respond to general maintaing like that really well. i got mine with 980000 its ran pretty good but when i renewd all that it was like driving a new car , was very shocked in the change.
keep an eye on your carby , cos the secondaries(injectors)tend to seize if no one has maintained it. so a can of carby cleaner could do a world of good to

It's a carbie.....carbie's dont make as much noise as efi cars for starters

hrrm i see... is there any way that i can make the thing produce the sound? no i dont want a 4" cannon exhaust that'll give me a headache at 1500rpm :D

so u want the induction noise i quess , kind like a whosshinng sucking sound, the k'n panel fillter will do that. also take any resonators (bs) out of the zorsht to get more sound. also being carbie when ur giving it the boot the secondary injectors should kick in giving it a nice howl but thats over 3500rpm unless it not working. thats the only thing i like about the carbies over efi.

the panel filter is a dierect replacment for the stock paper one. and it should fit in the factory box with the brackets supplied with the filter. at the end of the day it will work alot better than the pod. the panel is oval like the paper one.

upgrade to a better carb e.g. Webber or holley

you've never been in a carby magna. clearly you dont know moe... kekekeke
carbys make **** loads of noise if you dont have the stocko airbox on. if you fit a aftermarket air filter, you'll get the induction noise. it's not like the EFI induction noise though.
replacing the carby for another carby will also increase the noise.
