We have a 93 TR 2.6L EFI wagon with 200,000km.
I checked the auto transmission fluid, as per the manual (engine hot and running, changed into each gear, then back to Park), and the fluid level is way up the dipstick, way above the two indents and what appears to be the high mark.
It is a bit hard to see where the hot full mark is but I think it is between the two bent parts of the dipstick, right?
On one side of the dipstick the fluid level is several inches (maybe 6) above the mark, on the other side of the dipstick a few inches lower but still way above the high mark.
How do you read these things? Maybe I should drain some fluid? Maybe the previous owner overfilled it?
Thanks again.

make sure u are on a flat level surface.
now when the manual say to check it while it's hot thats not just moving the selector from p-L . it's better if u go for a drive to make sure all the oil is warmed up to temp cos just moving the selector will give u a false reading. for example the torqure converter can hold about 500mls so u really need to take a drive around the block to make sure the oil is pushed thruogh all gears.
now go do that and then re-check the level and get back too us.
now if it's still high drain a little out when it's cooled down:D
might be a good idea to drain out the oil and replace it aswell as the gasket\o-ring and internal filter. so many ppl do the engine oil but not the tranny, then wonder why it gave out , and then go around saying there weak boxes .where as i think the boxes are good but are picky and liked to be maintained reguarly. cos ive got any auto aswell but ive never had a problem and it shifts soooo smooth.

Actually, have the car in (N)eutral with handbrake on, on level surface.. car at operating temp. Dip the stick, read, note, wipe, dip again, read. Always take the lowest reading from the stick. Wouldnt be surprised if it is overfilled.
