Sorry if this had been covered before.
My Current system is:

2 alpine 6x9s in the parcel shelf
2 Cadence 6" in the front doors (being replaced with poineer spilts)
and a cheap Sony HU

so my question is i was thinking of getting a 4 channel amp and getting another piar of 6x9's to put in the passanger doors, so running 4 6x9's off prop off a Jaycar amp. and then running the splits off the HU. fist off can this be done? and second, how is everyone mounting there amps? i know i can mount it on an MDF board in the boot.
but how to you mount the MDF board to the boot? and is it fairly easy to wire the amp?
i've done about 5 full systems without amps with no worries.......

Thanks Guys

yes it can be done
but i wouldnt put 6x9's in the rear door i would put some 6" coaxials
running off a 4ch amp
as for mounting the amp just 12mm MDF mounted on one side of the car should be fine
i've got my two amps mounted like that one on either side and looks good

Why would you want to do this? Amp your front speakers - after all, they're the ones you listen to. Screw the backseat passengers ;) I also wouldn't bother with any kind of speakers in your back door. You've already got a set of 6x9s in the parcel shelf, which is more than enough IMO.

If you wanted to, sure.

I used a L-bracket to attach the MDF board to the boot, and then drilled holes through the boot floor.

If you've done a few full systems with amps, then sure - it's not hard to do.

i agree:stoopid: just get the splits, and amp every thing up, it'll sound good, and maybe go for a sub if u want more duff.

Yeah i think i'll pass on the rear door 6x9's.
i just wanted them for some extra bass + volume.
i'm reluctant to get a sup, i dont want to have to run 2 amps and to much crap in my boot

You can get a 4channel amp, and run 2 speakers, and the other to channelz for just one 12inch, it'll be pumpen lol.

Yeh man, and just run the other two speakers off your HU. It'll work out nicely.

Id recommend amping your fronts; thats where your ears are, and what you will hear most.

I tech screwed my amp straight in the middle behind the ski hatch. Very fast to remove if required. I have a full seatcover in the back so cant use the hatch anyway. outa the way at the back too.

Like 2000advanced said, you can get a 4 channel amplifier, and run the speakers off two channels and run the sub off the other. It's not perfect (a full-range speaker amplifier and a monoblock subwoofer amplifier would be ideal), but it'd beat having four sets of 6x9s ;)

If you want ideas, I've attached pics of how I'm doing my boot. The amps are mounted there permanently, just have to sort out the sub box. The amp mounts don't take up much room - depending on what you use your boot for, they're possibly just dead room anyway. My sub-box is pretty big.... including the pipe at the back its 40-45cm deep and its ~70cm wide. If you went for a small sealed enclosure, you could probably get away with having something ~35x35x30cm - won't take up that much room.

yeah i recon i'll go for a 12" sub now.
with the amp mounting, where did everyone get there carpet that matches the rest of the boot?
