Hi,
I have an AWD and have had bendix ultimates that are pretty much finished. Does anybody else with an AWD/Ralliart have recommendations or experience on good pads for the front? Also if you have a rough idea of how much they were that would be great.
Thanks

I'm using Bendix Advance... Good for everyday driving, low dust and quiet... They do fade eventually after some (very) hard repeated braking, but good value imo ($80-$90 i think they were, 8 months ago)

I'm also using bendix advance on my AWD and im about to change them even though they are only a few months old. They squeal like you wouldnt believe and the goaning/grinding noise that comes off them at low speed is unbarable.
Yeah i cant believe they are stopping the ultimates in the AWD size pads. I wonder if there are still some around.

Oh bugger, I didnt actually know they were discontinued, I was seeing if there were any better or other alternatives around. Anyone with greenstuff?

try the the bendix 4wd ones i've found them preety good especially on the south coast cruise I went on through macqurie pass they did well.
they cost me about $70 - $80
looks like they stopping a few of the pads for the awd cars
I think the 4wd pads are under the ultimates.
here is their brake guide.

I was considering the green stuff but i found for me its not worth the money as i heard they don't last as long.

I'm using green stuff, fantasitc pad and can cope with up to approx 500c. apparently....
I have pushed my car to the limit and these never give up!
Only bad thing is they cost allot ($165 a pair) and they tend to cover your rim in brake dust within a few days

I've noticed that the greenstuff are a bit hungry on the rotors too.

i had mine replaced with so-called "genuine" pads (done at work, a mitsu dealer) and they put on ferodo something or others.. and they ****ing suck..
the wheels are black after one day, they squeal like a pig being ran over and just feel crap when braking..
done 7,000kms with them now and i wouldnt mind betting that theres not much left on them going by the chunks of black **** that ends up on the wheels..
if i have to replace them again, ill go EBC Greenstuff probably..

I have Bendix 4WD on mine.
Work well, no problem with dust.
Feel firm but when you want to stop ... they stop you.
Cost around $90 over the counter.

All is solved, at least for another day. Mechanic found some ultimates, so thats what they have been replaced with. Thanks for your info.

Whoohohohoohohooooo.
I e-mailed bendix today asking if they still have any stock of the DB1223 and DB1231 in stock as the website says they no longer list Ultimates in these pads.
The response was:
"Both DB1223 & DB1231 are still manufactured in Ultimate and we have stock.
Regards Dale"
I just hope he is right.

Haven't tried them but another option would be the Lucas GDB1126.
got some AWD brakes from another members ( yet to fit them :D ) and he swore by these.

Getting my brakes done this weekend (tg for 7 day traders).
Bendix site lists the DB1203 for Aug00-May03, in adv/gen/hd/ult
The DB1223's are listed in theAug2003 TL AWD and TJ Ralliart, in the adv/4wd/gen/hd
Will the DB1223's fit a TJ early 03 AWD? Or do i use the DB1203's?
If i ring the stores, ill get told the exact information I'm looking at.

Magna AWD and Ralliart run the Japanese twin pot front calipers with 294mm rotors - DB1223
All other 3rd Gen Magnas run the crappy PBR single piston front calipers with midget rotors - DB1203

are the above suitable for the verada (am sure they are?)
and what's the price for a set of fronts pads at the moment?

the 4wd pads are poo lol
although i guess they arent designed for hard stops at speed...
maybe they work better with standard rotors, cos i have slotted on mine...
brake joint said i should consider ebc but they will grind and make more dust.... so what do you do... i hate noise and dust.... but something has to stop the 747

go and buy some brakes of a jet plane then lol or invest in a set of brakes like tzaboy has.
They will really make sure to stop that 747 of yours lol

I had EBC greens, they have great "bight" around town, but can't recomend them at all if you like to push your car hard.
After one track day with them they severely warped and scored by rotors (RDA slotted), and the pads themselves had cracked, a couple chucks of pad matieral were literally mising when I pulled the pads off.
Even before the track, they had slightly warped my rotors just from spirited driving. having said that, it is possible with a different rotor they would have held up. But nearly everyone I talk to whos done any track days or hard spirited driving with the greens hasn't rated them well at all.
IMO EBC greenstuff is overpriced junk, if you want a decentpad for the street, get Lucas or Bendix, same sort of performance for much less dough. If you want bulletproof brakes for the track/hard fanging i suggest Ferodo DS2500 and DBA4000 like I have. But the DS2500s defintaly don't bight as hard as ebcs around the street, they like to have some heat into them before they start to work well. It's all about compromise.
Cheap this combo certinaly aint, DS2500 set me back 250$ for the front, and $450 for the front DBA4000 slotted rotors. But if you do any track work, they are well worth it, I did a hard track day and this combo looks about 20% worn..lesser pads/rotors would likely have fallen apart like the EBC greens and RDA.
i got the new bendix ct pads and they have gone AWSOME so far

The ultimates at least on the fronts were good. Bit of dust but good bite and decent resistance to fade.
