Hi all.
Just wanting some advice.
I have a th magna lowered on king lows & superlows with 17" rims.
Am looking at purchasing a 14-15ft boat and wanting to tow it behind the magna.
Has anybody had experience here or does anybody know if I willl have troubles taking it down a boat ramp?
Cheers

my last magna was lowered (just with lows, not super lows) and i towed a trailer with it with no problems. but that was only a box trailer with a few bikes in it and a tool box at the front.
the main problem you may encounter is if the boat ramp is wet and when you try to drive up the ramp you may get a bit of wheelspin, being front wheel drive.

excellent.. is the wheel spin anything major? - my tyres are brand new and decent enough.
living on the gold coast, there's alot of more easier to approach drop off points for boats so maybe i'll just choose them rather than the steeper ones. :)

the wheelspin would only be worse where it is wet. it is just that when you have more weight over the back wheels, weight comes off the front wheels. and when you are pointing up hill that is even more weight off the front wheels. and the less weight on the front wheels the more chance of wheelspin.
it would wheelspin more driving back up the ramp after putting the boat on than it would with just the trailer and no boat.

the most i ever towed with my TE came in at just over 3tonne including the car at the tip. they can pull a hell of a lot. mine was manual though, if you have an auto and you plan on towing heaps of weight i'd reccomend changing gears manually so as not to overstress the motor at too low revvs.
EDIT: that was with king lows

I used to tow a 16 foot boat behind a 4cyl magna without any bother at the ramp, agree about wheel spin because of the weight at the back lifting the front, but there is another advantage with front wheel drive at the ramp.
Ramps normally have algae growth between the low and high tide mark, and front wheel drive cars are usually in front of it therebye missing the slippy area, so if you drive slowly out with good acceleration control you will have no problem.
Dunno about being lowered

im on superlows all round on 18s and dont have problem towing. towed a mates astra and allw as good but ye just take it easy and sat atleast 10ks below the speed limit and drive slow on bumby roads.
Don't worry about the ride height at the back you won't scrape or anything since the king lows are a pretty firm spring. I've got king low SPs (only 30mm drop), loaded it up with 3 mates and a 4 or 5 cartons in the boot and it was still at a practical height - sitting higher than it would with stock springs and that load.
Only problem with a manual, you might burn out a clutch depending how steep the ramp is etc

ive towed my 16ft boat and my magna has been lowered, the only concern for me was that i might get stuck on the ramp doing wheel spins, but this was not the case at all as there wasnt much ball weight, i can lift my boat from the tow bar, as long as you dont use a really steep ramp you should be fine.

That reminded me about ball weight, from memory the ball weight is to be no more than 10% of the whole rig, so make sure the trailer is properly balanced. (just check out that 10% bit, but am sure you get ma drift)
