A stage 1 shift kit is crazy???

'xplain how?

Mate of mine has a stage 2 kit with 2800 stally in his R8 Clubby, and I didn't think it was anything to write home about.

its right that ppl have failed trying to fit a shift kit to a magna, although its not impossible to get one fitted, you may just have to pay a **** load more than your friend thats all!!

Call around a few tranny places, you will find that they will fit it for you but it will be 1k easy!!

good luck!

They put a lot firmer springs in the tranny, they're only tiny but it changes the shifting. Results in much faster and firmer shifts, also make the auto more prone to kicking back gears. You get jerky shifts but they're quicker and make the auto nicer to drive spiritedly. Often shift kitted autos will chirp 2nd/3rd depending on the amount of torque the engine puts out.

I think the stages are just a measure of how violent you want to make it, I dont think you need stage 1 to install stage 2 etc.

Forgot to mention, also usually coupled with a higher stall converter like BB was talking about, meaning the engine needs to be spinning much faster before power is transmitted to the wheels. Makes cruising very difficult and gives horrible fuel economy but crazy launches.

The best explaination I've heard for what the different stages mean is as follows:

Stage 1: slightly firmer shifts than normal (shortens the amount of time that the transmission is effectively in 2 gears at once)
Stage 2: considerably firmer shifts than normal
Stage 3: Stage 2 + disables the automatic kick down function (basically means you are forced to manually select gears)
