I read somewhere here that a good idea to mount the tweeters in a set of splits is to get the little triangle piece of plastic next to the window in the corner from a verada as they have holes for tweeters already. can someone post a pic of these? i'm going down to mitsu on thurs so i wanna know what to order.

sorry about the description :)

you dont need a pic mate, just say to them your after the tweeter speaker "sails" that the verada's and magna sports and a couple of other models have, they will know what your on about

just bear in mind they are really only any good for 3/4in tweets

you can fit 1" tweeters in there if you attack them with a dremel inside, but yeah they are pretty small.

For Veradas MR 169-724 or MR 169-723
EDIT: The part number is apparently: MR172209 and MR172210 (please confirm on order) The above number is the stock delta cover apparently

I put tweeters in the original dash mounts they came in

You can pop them out with a screwdriver, but you'll need to destroy the original tweeter to use the mount
Be carefull which you cut off (I used cutters) to get rid of the original tweeters, making sure that the clips that hold that round thing in the dash stay in 1 piece
Then I hot glue gunned the new tweeters into there, passed the wires and now looks all stock but sounds awesome

The dash mounts you speak of are there for access to the holes to remove the dash. The only audio purpose they have is or the 3-way systems where mitsu installed the midrange there (the tweeter is still in the delta and the midbass in the doors.

Personally I think the stock delta location is much better as it avoids comb filtering of the high frequencies that is common with reflections off glass. (as your ear hears the incident then the reflection and certain frequencies cancel/out amplify.

I did it in a 97 Verada and there was just the woofer/full range in the door and those tweeters on the dash
No midbass driver

So i wend down to Mitsu today, and they car quoted me $37 for the plastic things.
i thought it was a bit high as i'm sure i've heard $16 dollars before...... maybe thats each?....

Yep thats the right price...

Order em in!

Its cheap considering a custom mount as neat would cost $100 to fabricate at a shop.

anyone know what sort of depth there is for these mounts?

i'm about to install some focal access 165 A1's into a mates car, but can't find any details on the dimensions of the tweeter

I paid $34 for the pair of mine, so that sounds about right.

i got the tweeters and mounts today, doesnt look like the focal tweeter will fit behind, MAYBE if i buzz off the edge of the tweeter, but still unsure.

what sized tweeters have people fit in there?

Have fit morel mt2 and morel mt22. MT2's required a bit of force

You can pop the actual stock grille out of there and you get a bit more room. its just glued in. I had to do this to get the MT2's in.

apparently that part number is the standard flat version, the tweeter covers are

MR172209 and MR172210.

figured out the deal with the focal tweeters :D the outside casing is way bigger than needed, just clipped apart!

here's the standard tweeter, with its large annoying plastic covers, would definately not fit with these on
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d1/asylum83/Stereo/100_2143.jpg

the covers just clipped off, and left the magnet and grill intact
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d1/asylum83/Stereo/100_2146.jpg

just a temporary fit, will be hot-glued in from the back, and theres a MASSIVE amount of room now

Sorry to bump an old thread, but i am interested in these. Do I just call Mitsubishi (victorian branch for me?) and quote them a part number or...? How do I go about ordering them?

Edit: Nevermind, i found the website and i emailed them :)

Ah righto. By credit card i presume. I may have to wait for my mum to get back from holidays so I can borrow hers (and pay her back, im not that type of son :P). Does anyone know the part number for the verada grill (KJ)?

At my dealer I actually didn't have to pay until I picked them up.

rhaz, like Spackbace said, they're purchased from the spare parts/service section of your local Mitsubishi dealership. Since you pick them up in-store, you should be able to pay cash, credit card or EFTPOS.
