Just interested in hearing from some of the pros; what are the general concepts of an enclosure designed for big SPL (lay aside any form of SQ for the moment lol).

Appart from port tuning, does an overly large enclosure boast any significant gains over something like the factory specified volumes for a sub (which are usually fairly small for the sake of fitment to vehicles). Or will going too large lose SPL?

Also, i dont know alot about bandpass enclosures... are they more SQ oriented in design?

Just curious, as i'm looking to design an enclosure (pure SPL setup) to house 2x soundstream SPL12's, or similar. Any ideas/opinions/tips are much appreciated.

Cheers.

generally speaking a bigger box will yield higher SPL

for 2 x 12" i would be building a box around 3-6ft^3

for SPL its pretty much all about test and tune

most of the pros build about 3-10 boxes

Cheers for the speedy reply.

Yeh i was considering about 2.2-2.8 cuft per enclosure, but if bigger is better, then i'll try for more :D .
