My auto box only seems to be working in 1st and 3rd gear, it went from not doing it at all, to doing it sometimes, and now to doing it all the time.

Does this sound like an electrical problem or a mechanical one?

From the diagnostics plug I have one long blink, then one medium sized then 4 short.

I have been told by mitsu that it is either the B solenoid or the end clutch.

if theres no 4th gear then thats definitly the overdrive clutch, theres a clutch kit u can buy.

The plot thickens, it was working as normal today when I dropped a friend of at their house, then when I turn it back on, it's back to not working...

Might check and CRC all the plugs I can find.

A mitsu with auto problems

By CRC I assume you ment contact cleaner CRC? A better bet would be to test continuity between all the pins from start to finnish.

Over temp sometimes causes limp home mode.

Sprayed them all with CRC and now it's all working fine ( I also unplugged everything to let it reset)

I have the same problem with my car...

sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt...and when i take it to the transmission shop it's working so they cant diagnose?:eh:

Today it was limping in 3d gear...and then after I changed the battery and started it up again it was only driving in first....

sick of this ****...

How do I go about getting it out of fail safe mode?

From the pulses u have listed i get:

Fail safe code
Code 14:

Item: open or short circuit in shift solenoid valve A
Fail safe mode: locked in 3rd
Relation to other codes: when codes 41 or 42 is generated 4th time

Code 41: damaged or disconnected wiring of s/solenoid A
Code 42: Short circuit of S/Solenoid A

I would check your wiring it's a 4 pin plug towards the front of your box, check for bad insulation near connector or bad contact surfaces WD40/CRC will lube your contacts and make the circuit good for a while, try contact cleaner
