I have a TP magna Elante 2.6 EFI 5 speed. Overall its in pretty good condition, silver with the original sports kit. Body and interior are in good condition. I have had the car in the family for 10 years, no accidents but highway ks at 350,000. Looks like it has done another timing chain as it has lost a heap of power, i think it has jumped a cog. Motor is a little rattly on start up and uses a bit of oil. Still gets good economy though, upto 600ks to the tank.

Do i fix it again, (3rd timing chain) or sell it as is? I know these things arent worth much these days

Cheers

P.S. I am selling it anyway as i have another car

He is probably referring to the elante kit.

Unless you can do the chain yourself you will be better off selling it with the broken chain than you will with the chain fixed.

Yes can fix the chain myself if i get around to it, but with the chain fixed and a worn motor, how much are these cars worth????

i reckon you get about 1000 if its in good condition, if you fix the chain, might get something close to that if it drives ok. If you dont fix it you'll be lucky to get 500 for a broken TP

in working order with the chain fixed, with no rust and in good ondition, i'd put about 1100 on it and be happy with offers. you dont get much in a good car for a grand these days.

if it needs the chain fixing when you sell it, nock about 500 off that. people are scared by older cars that need stuff doing to them when you buy them.

There are plenty of cheap, functional magnas for sale and they're not worth much. You might be lucky to get rid of a dead magna at all...

You could cut your losses and and try your luck selling it on ebay as-is, or fix it and compete with the rest of the magnas for sale.

I also have a complete and very healthy TP efi engine sitting in the shed that i might be able to sell if your interested...

If your only gunna sell it, DON'T spend a cent on it you will never re-coup it.

But as for being good cars, they are.
