ok....
recently lowered my car.... new shocks and all.. when i first did it it was all sweet... but after couple of days i noticed a weird noise comin from the front drivers side strut.... and then after a couple weeks the same thing started happening with the other side front... rears are fine... now... the noise is... when i turn a decent amount of lock to the left, then start bringing it back to the right... first the passenger side followed by other will go clunk.. and you can feel it through the car..... i am going to be pulling the struts out either today or tomorrow but just wanted to get ppls thoughts.. it sounds like the strut top is binding on the other top plate or something... and now in the last couple days.. when i take a corner where i have to slow down considerably like a 90 degree turnoff to the left... as i come back to the right like let the steering centre itself, it sometimes doesnt come back like it should and seems to get stuck so its like driving with a shocking shocking wheel alignment... then once i put the clutch in to change to 2nd or whatever it will clunk and be fine again.. sounds like when the force is taken off the struts they are popping back into place? i am not sure i get it.. now i have done a search but i didnt find too much about something like this so yeah any help would be appreciated... do you think i will need to get new strut tops? as im fairly sure the problem is with them but yeah... help....
Cheers,
Trav...
PS sorry for the long read...

spring not sitting properly in it the strut. not a serious problem, just make sure the and of the spring sits neatly in the grooves in the struts when they're re-fitted

I had the exact same problem when I changed from Pedders to Kings, they just werent seated correctly... The clunk was bloody huge aswell, almost felt as thou the wheel was gunna break off....I had the seating rearranged, done about 1500k's n they have settled nice

Make sure the bottom and top of the strut plates line up too, this can also cause it.

Its not a seating issue.

When you put the springs in you need to align the top and bottom of the strut.

There is key holes on the top and bottom (2 big holes) these need to be facing out away from the car and aligned..

What is happening is your spring is twisting/compressing as the strut plates cannot swivel.

heres an old post of mine about this.
