Ok, well I noticed this noise this-morning on the way to work. I think it's been there for a little while I only just 'woke-up' this morning. I get a pretty loud knock when letting the clutch out from changing gears, I thought maybe it could've been my clutch rooted hitting the flywheel but if i kick the clutch in neutral it's quite as a mouse, but when letting it out (apart from ultra-slow-ultra-smooth) it makes a knock when powering on (with no gas).

Now I'm thinking possibly a drive-shaft noise, but its central (from what I can tell in the drivers seat). The bad thing is now - my fiance can't drive so I can't pop the bonnet and have her let the clutch out so I can pinpoint it.

So backyard mechanics - Diagnose it! Anyone had this problem before?

TR V6 5SP (Just incase you're wondering).

only when the car is in gear hey,?? so when the engine is loaded up only.. engine mount/s totally stuffed possibly .. engine moves but no rubber left so your getting the metal on metal knock sound.. my TJ sports did this when the engine mount went

I thought of this possibility too. I will be getting some mounts from Megatron if it is cooked. I hope not though. Can I change a mount myself?

I service my car and I did the suspension myself. I will be doing a twin-pot upgrade when i can find the cash too..

I think i can do it, i just need a bottle jack to raise the engine. And a spare stuffed mount for Al to put the poly into.. that'd be the hardest part...
