Thanks hips...

Search function is your friend dude, DVS, Ashneel, Tuff, myself and others (sorry, I can't remember names lol) have all detailed our experiences with making letterbox grilles.
Unless you're talking about mesh for a letterbox grille? In which case go to SuperCheap Auto's "performance" (lol) section and ask for some bumper grille.

hmmm to powder coat. after the power has been electroniclly adhered to the surface they bake it on so i guess that won't work unless it's made out of metal:D

It sort of can be done to a TJ done it to mine and put mesh in behind it looks really good but you are still going to have the beak in the centre of the grill

I didnt have it powder coated all i done was take my standard grill cut out the plastic mesh filed it and sanded it down and then just put silver mesh in behind it I'd say it looks more like a ralliart grill pretty much the same

I am after black grill. So if I don't powder coat it, thrn it will be discolored within few months. Been a panel shop today and they said they can cut my TJ fornt plastic grill and will fit a alumuniam black grill for about 100$.

if you get correct paint it will not discolour. it will cost you max $40 to do it urself and being a TJ grill iuts pretty easy. its harder to make a letterbox grill out of a TH coz theres a lot mre work involved in it.
also you wont really notice the letterbox grill on a TJ because the beak pulls the focus away from the grill so not really worth it unless you get a TH with a proper letterbox grill.

well to answer the actual topic question... yeh you can poder coat it, anything can be powdercoated, dunno why you'd bother powder coating your grille though, waste of money, just paint it with a rattle pack of cold galv then a lick of black and it should be fine.... but like its going to rust any way

I agree why do you need to pay so much more? might as well get another KJ grille. I think good spray paint quality is good enough.

Yeh mate, I thought about the option. But no one wants to see a KJ grill up here  and I called mitsubishi, the price for a brand new one is 250$

Dont think you can powdercoat plastic, would get too hot in the oven and melt (what smooth 2 said)

well what plasic grill do you know of that can handle 160c for 40 mins without melting into a puddle. my chef kninfe's handle is 300c heat proof but sum how i don't think a grill will handel that. but that not the only problem, the reason u need metal is cuase they electriclly charge the surface so the charged power coat will be drawn to it and into all the small crevices (bs). and last i chacked plasic doesn't hold a charge very well , not saying it can't be done but ud have to go to someone who deals in powder coating / plating plastic and that would be expensive.
