hi guys,

i have an 02 verada gtv (sweet-ass ride by the way) and i was wondering whether or not you can hook an amp up to the exisiting head unit.

is it as easy as with an aftermarket head unit?

i have heard some talk about low level and high level inputs... can someone shed some light on this for me?

cheers in advance,

Jazack

Hi and congrats on the sweet ride!

Simple answer: Yes you can.

To make this easier to understand:
RCA (what your amplifier needs as inputs) is LOW level.
The speaker wire outputs from your headunit are HIGH level.

First you need to buy a high level to low level converter.
High level to Low level converter (http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA0480&CATID=&keywords=RCA&SPECIAL=&form=KEYWORD&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=)

Then some RCA cables to go from this to your amp and your all sorted!
Cheers
Pete

I believe so... there are some amps out there that accept high level inputs.
