G'day all,

I've got an issue with my 5spd carby TP magna. The tacho goes insane from idle up to 2000rpm and is accompanied by a random assortment of misfiring, detonation and stalling, but only when the engine is properly warmed up, its fine when cold. I've replaced the plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor, ignition module, checked all the vacuum lines, set the timing correctly, checked the vacuum advance and tested everything i can. Before I replaced the ignition module it had the same problems at idle and from 2000-3000rpm. The car starts straight away and pulls well at high revs, can anyone help me?! I'm completely stumped!

mmmm now im not an electrical guru but the wiring tends not to hold up the best. so maybe crc (contact cleaner) all the elec connections. my elecs were playing up the other day and it was suggested to look at the dizzy connection cause they have a habit of corroding alittle , so pull it off and if u see any blue or green give it a light sand with fine paper then clean it with crc and see if it helps. my tp wouldn't start so i did this and it started first go. maybe clean it anyways just to be sure. i know it's not the same as what ur going thruogh but couldn't hurt. other wise pm stagma he seems to be the wizz and most things electrical.

Its yor distributor, take the cap off and you will see what looks like rusty dust, should prove it. get one from a wrecker, without the dust and i reckon you will have it sorted!!!
