hey all

newbie here ive noticed of late that my 4 cylinder 5 speed has been leaking fluid but had no idea on what it was but i jacked the car up this arvo and found some screws missing, having just got a new clutch put in maybe he missed something when putting it back together anyone can help me ive attached a photo of it and let me know whether iis serious or not

eek... at a glance, looks like rear main oil seal. Needs further investigating though.

Replace those missing bolts to stop the cover from potentially rattling around too.

How many kms has your car done?

Im definately gonna take the car back to my mechanic this week gotta get it checked out dunno whether i should drive it or not until i seal it back up

How bad is it leaking? It should be drivable mate. Just recheck your engine oil level often & top it up as required. You'll be aight.. :)

hahaha funny you should say that.. 2 weeks after my new engine rebuild mine started leaking.. What a biatch..:( Then i broke diff so it made me happier as box had to come out anyway..:P

This will be the third seal in 8 months.. we put a new on on when i put the lsd in last year and when wedid engine build.. now another..:(



Are you sure its a rear main..?? could it be gearbox..?? it looks like engine oil but which one has the low oil level..??

thanks for the replies, the oil in the engine was getting low dont know whether it has anything to do when my clutch was replaced my mechanic said there was some bolts missing on the gearbox where missing but he replaced them anyways im goin 2 see him on thursday and get it checked out

First one was okay when we did LSD we decided to do it.. then a few months later engine was ripped down and rebuilt.. That one was me again.. all good of two weeks then started leaking.. Biatch.. i got to do it again before box goes in..:(

Buy some degreaser and give it a good pressure blast with a high pressure hose, then when its clean keep an eye on that area and you should be able to see where the leak is coming from easier.
