Alright so i just got back from JB (Belconnen, ACT), got my jvc head unit yey, got home opened it up, started looking at the manual then found the "parts" section, to my shock the power cables, sheeth, and a nut and washer are missing, and by the looks of it the box had been opened before (didnt pay any atention to this because i thought oh yeah gotta be new) so anyways i called JB back straight away and the guy just goes "alright bring it back in" Argh pisses me off, could have explained it or something but no, anyways im goin back soon and gonna see what they say but i'm not a happy customer:rant:

Yep... happened to me numerous times. Last time was not that long ago actually...
Does anybody know the policies about returned goods? are they allowed to be put back on the shelf to be re-sold if the packaging has been opened?

returned goods are normally sent back to the manufacture to be looked over and repacked and sent back out, will come like new when sent out from the manufacture
sorry to hear mate but hey its a minor stuff up which will come clean in the end
take it back and you should walk out with a new deck

Its not big of a deal, you probably got a display box or something. Worse things could have happened.

Probably, but still, you should be told its display, or be given a discount because of that fact.
i would be taking it back asking for a new one;)

Anoying I agree, but don't walk in angry, use tact and you should walk out happy.
Get angry when you need to.
Main thing is that the guy has said "alright bring it back in".
This usually gives you an indication that the shop will exchange it.

Yeah. i bought a video camera from Harvey Norman once, $2799 got home opened the box all the cables and stuff were in there but no camera. I couldnt believe it. Thank god they believed me and they gave me a new box, with the camera in it. I think they gave me the box to the one that was on display.

Dont want to sound nasty, buts its your own fault. ALWAYS check what you buy, before you leave the shop. Simple.
if im buying something like that ill either look through the box at the counter, or when i get to my car so i dont have to come all the way back to sort it out :)

Yeah if you ring up straight away they are usually very cool about it. Besides most stores will have a sticker or something on the box to tell them that it is a display. You should only start yelling if no one is willing to help fix the problem. :D
