Over the last few weeks our Verada has being running differently.
The car now considerably shakes for a second as the engine is turned off.
When the car is idling it also shakes inconstantly. It seems as though it shakes and stops shaking ever 1/2 a second to one second.
It is a KJ Verada Xi with the 3.5litre engine and has done about 183,000km. The timing belt was replaced 3,000km ago and a major service was completed.
The car in general also seems to accelerate slightly differently (not as smooth... if that makes any sense) then it normally would and fuel consumption seems higher then usual (averaging around 16l to 16.5l/100km... no country driving).
The problem was first noted around 1 week ago and has got noticably worse over the last few days.
If anyone knows what it is please direct me in the right direction that would be much appreciate.
Once the source of the problem has been found and fixed I will let you all know what it was.
Thanks :) :) :)

Have you checked the engine mounts?

just a wild guess, but could it possibly be your timing belt has stretched out a tad, and it has send your engine timing out of wack a bit?

Hmm.. don't know. The timing belt was only replaced 3,000km though.

Ohh.. mum took the car up to Mitsu and guess what.
She tells them that she wants them to look at it and described the problem to them.. they drove it and came back. They thought she meant it was running rough when braking.... even though she told them then when it was stopped. So they replaced all brake rotors without asking her ... and yep, you guessed, the problem still exists.
The handbrake is also alot looser now, so they must of touched that when they were replacing the brake rotors. Anyway... it's booked in for next Monday to get looked at.
When you turn the engine off the whole car shakes very badly, from the front and then toward the back (kind of hard to explain)..
I will let you all know what it was on Monday after it is fixed.
Check for any ECU fault codes.

My bet the timing sensor in the lower crank case cover is either dislodged or disintegrating... OR... and given your comment above - one of the three idler wheels is not fastened back correctly since the change of belt.

Or it just has a misfire... when was the last time the plugs and leads were replaced?
Possibly fuel related if the problem 'seems' to be getting worse.

when was the last time the plugs and leads were replaced?
All the spark plugs were replaced 3,000km at thea 180,000km major service, along with the timing belt.
I don't know about the leads though.
Also, Mitsubishi said to my mum that she'll be fine driving the car till we take it in (on Monday)... she needs the car and will definitely be using it up until Monday... should we continue using it or will the problem just get worse.
Also.. how do I pull codes from the ECU? Do I need an LED thingy, or does the car have an OBD II or OBD I connector?
Thanks for your help guys :)

i had a similar problem with shuddering at idle and i found it was misfiring as a result of oil in the spark plug leads due to a ****ty rocket cover gasket. dunno if it helps you though.......
