Magna TR Driver... not sure if i am coming on the tobogan run yet.. but it take 21 days from yesterday for the plates to be ready

I don't understand why people pay so much for custom plates, when you get them near enough to free as standard anyway? Especially given all the lovely terms people have for them too... :) $400 per year is an awful lot to pay for something that you could be getting for free - they're only number plates after all!

Not meaning to have a go, I just cannot understand such a waste of money on something that adds zero value to the car, doesn't improve the looks, and invites abuse from the general community for having them. :nuts:

I got custom plates, price depends on content. Mine only cost $60per yr.
They are yellow with MICO79, name and yr born. just summin to make me car more my personal i guess.

I'm pretty sure QLD personalised plates come with just a once off price and free plate rental...

yeh stuff that u own the plates. shouldnt have to pay 4 rentals, just another fee 4 them to make money

I've seen prices from the RTA of $400 annually for personalised plates.

As for having the money and wanting to spend it...well, all I can say to that is enjoy it while it lasts, because I learned the hard way myself that such an attitude is the best way to get yourself lots of debts and not much to show for it - especially concerning cars. Spend it how you like, but be careful! :)

Hothing wrong with custom plates...gives a bit of induviduality to your car...instead of people saying look at that piece of crap.....they now say....that TUFFTR is a piece of crap lol
However in VIC its a once off Fee of $400-$700 depeding on style etc

That's only full custom lettering. If you just go the standard white with black writing it's only about $90 a year.

I think what is more stupid is that we get slogged for having requested a plate. The excuse "They're unique" doesn't work...all plates are unique, that's kinda the point lol. Paying for them to be made is fair...but extra fees on top of your rego for them is wrong.

I just ordered some new plates too. In SA you can get Personalised plates. They are a one of fee. It cost me $180 including shipping to my address. They are cool, you can choose the color and even a slim front plate, and it's all done online. (My worst fear is the darn rego office, I hate them with a passion.... the people that work there I mean).

You can also get custom ones too, which you pay a yearly fee. Im not that keen. I just wanted some plates to match closely the ones from my other car.
