Ok guys well for the last year and a bit i've had this installed in the magna:
Kenwood 50x4 HU
Kenwood 6x9's
Pioneer 12" sub
Pioneer Monoblock
And I've had some Pioneer 2 ways sitting around for a few months, wondering if my HU will be able to handle the 6x9's and the 61/2" 2 ways and put out a decent quality of sound at the same time? Will be gettin stock 4" taken out as they sound tinny.
Alternatively I'd buy an 4 channel Amp to run the speakers but until rego and whatnot is over it's not my first priority. So will the sound be fine until i buy an amp shortly?
Thanks Heaps :cool:

Yeah will sound fine.
Amp will sound better, but your HU will drive the 6x9s and the 2 ways no worries. Wont be window shattering loud but if you want volume you get an amp anyway :P
dont just do away with the 4" in the dash!!!
You can get the grille off with a flat head screwdriver. Remove the speakers. There's room for some 4" tweeters in here, adds that lil extra boost! You will need to cut some of the plastic base out with a stanley knife though. That's what i did! Makes a fair difference if you get good quality speakers.
You won't be able to hear them properly because the sound will run off the front windscreen right over your head. Sails are better for tweeters.

Meh only reason I want em in doors is so that I don't have to pay the installer extra to screw around with the dash, he's quoting me a pretty cheap price. Would do it myself but im a bit of a knobjockey when it comes to DIY :redface:

Agreed, my tweets are in where my 4" were, and it sounds great, although they can be a lil' harsh, so i am going to re-direct them. Either way, if Mortz is just running them off a HU or a cheap 4ch amp im sure it wont really matter :P

Will sound quality be improved over just the 6x9's or will the adding of the splits jus be pointless?

Short answer. Yes.
Because you're using splits you're getting a wider dynamic range in your audio, you're tweets will play higher than what you're used to, and your mids should play lower than what you're used to. Of course, the extent of improvement is all based around what splits/amp/HU you're all got. But basically, yes, it should sound better.
Small lesson in Sound Quality
6x9's = ghey
Splits = win

Thanks mate appreciate it.
Since I have been reading on AMC about not adding 6x9's and subs i have been noticing extra bass not needed from the 6x9's which cancels some sounds, after these splits will hopefully replace 6x9's in the parcel shelf when i get the amp.

If you want bwetter sound quality, don't put the splits in your parcel shelf.. really a pretty pointless exercise, put them at front, where you want your sound stage to be. Then just fade the rears a bit so they're not overpowering the fronts - i have my rears un plugged.

Yeah, got them put in today and they sound bloody beautiful...much clearer then the 6x9's alone. Instead of hearing the sound behind me I hear clear music all around me and even have heard some different frequencies I may have missed with the 6x9's.
