hey there guyz!

new to the forum.... love it..... magnas are way overlook in this world if you ask me :D

anyways.. my question :)

i have a 96 Altera. i think the transmission is on it's way out (again) and i'm wanting to replace it with a manual. What i'd like to know is.. the 94 model 3.0 v6s.. is that the same motor thats in mine? would a manual from a earlier model bolt on..

also.. where could i get one? i'm in melbourne and everyone i've rung doens't have a clue.. so any insite would be greatly apreciated :)

Yep you will need 96 TE onwards gearbox (3.0 or 3.5).

The bad thing is you will be hard pressed getting one, there as rare as hens teeth in a car let alone spare parts :cry:

yelp i know all about that i had to wait 3 weeks to find one i nthe end they found one from a tj and put it in my te and dont ask me about the old box as it is sold ;)

i dunno much, buh is it even possible to change from A to M?
dont u need a new engine?

With all the correct parts, you can change to Manual without a hassell.

I blew my diff and half the manual in my car about 4 months ago, and I hate to give you the bad news but its not easy to find those parts :(

i did the same as ash about 3 months ago it was cheaper to find a new box
