Hey all, nice forum, though I might join now that i'm one of you. :bowrofl:

I pick up my 1996 Magna TE on Saturday. Its the newer type of body (not sure of the name, the one that looks newer, forgive the noobiness).

It is currently, 100% stock standard. The plans, at this point in time, include:

- 2.5" Redback cat-back exhaust
- K&N pod filter
- The sound system from my old car, consisting of Pioneer DEH-P5850MPH head unit, with Pioneer TS-D691S 6x9's (350W pro classes, woo yeah baby!), 12" Pioneer W306C on a Pioneer 760W 2 channel amp running bridged in single channel.
- Clear side indicators from eBay
- Clear tail lights
- Incar (footwell) blue neons, 4x
- Momo steering wheel (black and blue) to match the lights
- Chrome pedals with black rubber strips that make the legal
- TJ VRX rear spoiler

Now I have several questions about this stuff, will TJ tail lights fit this car. Considering the body appears almost identical. And what does the exhaust sound like? Are they loud and carry a note, or do they have the droney noise associated with no rear muffler on a normally aspirated engine.

Later on down the track I will put wheels on it, 18" Zenetti's. (At this stage anyway). Then later a full VRX body kit. Rear bar, front bar, end caps and side skirts.

And finally, how difficult/expensive are turbo conversions?

If you fit TJ tail lights to a TE you get a sizeable gap between the boot lid and the light.
And a turbo would be fairly expensive (I'm guessing its a v6), it would be cheaper and you would get better gains from a supercharger system.

EDIT: Just saw your sig, I'm not sure on chuckin a turbs on the 4 pot.

Nope, its a 4 cylindar. Well, im 90% sure it is. So TJ lights are out of the question. What kind of prices are supercharger kits?

dont think there is a supercharger kit for a 4 cylinder magna. pretty sure most of the kits are for the 6 culinder 3.5 ltr engines. guess u may be able to turbo it. not sure how much its gonna cost for a 4 cylinder. there may be a few members here who have 4's that are contimplating of turbo charging. not sure. its cheaper to go to ur local mistubishi to pick clear side indicators think there like 20 bucks each with globes. ebay it like 45 plus postage. if ur car has an airbag its illegal to change to the momo wheel

Hey man welcome to the club, you can fit TJ taillights to a TE but you have to fit a TJ bootlid so you don't get the gap, This would take care of the VR-X spoiler as well if you find one with it already fitted.:D (A few members have done this)

:stoopid: But don't pay any more than $250 for clear TJ taillights at a shop because thats the most you'll pay on e-bay.
Have fun.:D

Thank Lenny, i'll keep that in mind about the clear side indicators.

Will 99-03 (I guess thats TJ) sports headlights, they're the two piece ones shown here: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160084802618&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006 fit on a TE.

I dont understand, pedal failure. I've never heard of anything like that.

When you say I cant put the momo wheel on it, I physically cant, or legally?

I apologise for the double post, but thanks likeashot. Thats a pretty good idea, any ideas of a price from a wreckers? Or anywhere else I could pick one up for cheap.

EDIT: The boot has a different key to the ignition though doesnt it? How does that work with replacing the boot, is it possible to swap the lock.

I'm pretty sure they'll fit (use search button, it's been done before) as for the steering wheel if u don't have airbags then you can change it.

Not sure about changing the lock but you should have boot release in the car somewhere so just use that.

Yeah I found one car with the TJ sports headlights, looks good.

And the boot release sounds easier. :)

BTW: Love the signature mate, aint it the truth!

Re: Clear indicators:

Just ask the salesperson for 380 side indicators, if u say clear magna ones they wont know what ur on about. They are the same shape/clip/connection though.

Hey mate,
Did you get a reply on the supercharge/turbo question? I've got a 3L v6 and I was wonderong A. What's better and B. How much it would cost

They start at $4500 for a bolt on supercharger. Do a google search mate cos you can get them at around that price. Pay more for quality though. You can pay up to 10k if you want the best of the best

Anyone have any ideas on what the price of an exhaust upgrade would cost? I just want to enhance the sound coming out of the thing, its quite horrible atm

Try to spend at least 250 on getting a system supplied and fitted. That is a straight swap of the bolt on rear muffler (lukey). I am paying about 300 but that is doing another couple of bits and pieces. If it sounds like crap, you probably have a leak that needs attending to

Redback do a bolt on rear muffler as well. Or if you want to do it fairly cheap, go to a wrecker and ask for a muffler from a tj sports.

The sports muffler is better but its not noisy enough for my liking.
