Interested to see if i got the second gen with the lowest number of K's (150,000). Had a look around before I bought it and i couldn't find any lower. Ol' Peugeot 505 '84 i owned before the Magna did well over 450,000 before the odometer died, interested to see if many 2nd Gens make it past 300,000km's.

And at the same time, how many of these cars from 1991-1996 are defying the stereotype of the thrashed out Magna. By having LOW KM's, great paint/no rust and solid running gear.

I've seen a fair few thrashed magnas, all you need is a lead foot that rarely touches the brake pedal when going around corners or speedbumps, and there are plenty of those people around... such disrespect :(

Not really that surprising - any car will last if it's actually treated with respect and properly maintained. The surprising thing is the number of people who wonder why their car does NOT last, not realising that failure to service it regularly, failure change belts on time, and generally driving it like a rally car crossed with a shopping trolley, isn't actually good for it!

Just crossed the 200K fairly recently, about 201 now.
With the availability of so many brand-new parts, can't see why they couldn't continue indefinitely, as long as the body is kept in good nick. My old car was 35+years old when I sold it, and that was only really because I couldn't get parts that were any better than those that were on it.

My KS Verada just went over 100.000km's last week, everything is still good inside like new. I also have a TS v6 5speed with 241.000km's and there's no real differents in the way it drives compare with the Verada.

Wow, didnt expect so many Magna's had done over 300,000 and runnin fine....not many cars nowadays last too long if u give em a bit.
And yeah Blue Penguin, i agree, i know a LOT of friends who are Magna owners and belt the cars around, the fact that they stick to the road in the dry very well means a lotta Magna owners feel the need to rev the s**t outta the engine. I know a mate who has absolutely belted his 3rd gen Altera around, done 240k's, most around the outback, and the car still goes bloody beautifully.

Weird....Treat your car nice and it piss's out oil
Thrash the crap out of em and they work fine.
Might start thrashing her and the oil leak will stop:D

i regulally service mine to keep her going well, but am guilty on a little bit of thrashing as well
Mine's done 222,000 kms with hardly any problems at all... I only had to replace the starter motor about 3 weeks ago and the stepper motor just after I bought it about 9 years ago. It's still as smooth and reliable as ever:D. I bought it for $18,700 when it was just 3 years old... now of course it's only worth about 5K what a shame! I want to trade up to a TJ VRX in the next couple of years... see how we go.

i have the bottom end on my engine... going going gone...
nah i blown the rings on cyl 2 and 5...
and besides using oil and a little extra fuel... the car still goes as hard as ever :)
when i get a little more money(could be bothered) i will do an engine transplant cause i love my baby and i don't want a new car ;p
mines done just under 186k.
i dont reckon its going to last much longer tho for some reason.
riding around on the bump stops must be doing some damage :doubt:
